NL4, Accessing Patch Parameter Values?
Here is a question for NL4 owners. When you call up a patch, is there any way to access the values of the various parameters using the front panel? I know that some other synths (Prophet 08, Studiologic Sledge 2.0, Roland System 8) have mechanisms for doing this. I looked through the latest version of the NL4 manual and couldn't find anything, just references to snap to value editing.

Ouch!
On my NLA1 there is a monitor function ...
... but I could not find it on my NL4 or 2X.
Perhaps it would be too complicated with the impulse morphs and all that other stuff (NL4)?
Pablo?

NE3HP, NP88, NS2, DPP1, NL2X, NL2X, NLA1, NL4, NE5D, NW2 (Collect Them All?), some classic Rolands, Arturias, a Waldorf, a Kurz, a WONOK3, a pile of guitars, a P-bass, loopers, amps and computers ...

Re: NL4, Accessing Patch Parameter Values?
I just found this on p. 11 of the manual, under "Copy and Paste settings":
The same procedure can be used to copy individual parameters.
1 Hold Copy and turn a knob - the source to be copied. The parameters
value will be displayed in the Display.
That looks like a "backdoor" method of finding a parameter value.

Hej SocProf!
Thanks! Then it is similar to the NLA1 ... great!
But no printing on the panel, as on the NLA1. (Copy/Monitor)

Michael, I'm surprised...but sure wish I knew how to copy and paste bits of the manual .pdf...
As shown on page 8 under the heading COPY in pertinent part:
"Hold (the COPY button) and turn a knob...to show the parameter value in the display."
Bless, Pablo

Re: NL4, Accessing Patch Parameter Values?
Apparently there's a wee bit of diving after all I discovered the monitor parameter value by chance. Also not printed on the silk panel is note trig (shift + fx on/off button) for the NL4r.

Re: NL4, Accessing Patch Parameter Values?
Thanks for this! This is also a good workaround for the shortcoming of no "pickup mode" on the knobs when you switch to a new patch and the knobs don't match the value on the param. If you hold copy and turn the knob, it doesn't change the value for that param which means if you've switched patches and - for example - your filter knob is out of position from the value in the current patch - you can rotate to match the value. This will reduce radical bumps in params live.

Ha! As long as a team from the NL takes it all the way I'll be happy - it's been foreva for both teams!!
Baseball and synthesis are quite similar actually. Managing in the NL is much like programming the NL4 you gotta apply more theory, whereas in the AL with the DH is much like having osc config on the A1.
