I have a slight problem with using expression pedals with my c2d. The problem is that the volume doesn't go to zero, so I can't do fades to or from zero volume. This is of course not a problem as long as the rest of the bands play, but sometimes it's just me. I have a Roland EV-5 and an M-Audio EX-P, both works perfectly with other instruments and effects, and I have tried the various settings for swell pedal in the menus. Is it supposed to be like this or is anyone aware of a solution?

Hammond organs don't go to complete silence with the traditional swell pedal. Playing a Hammond, the trick is to bring the swell on a fade all the way down, then flick the volume toggle switch from Normal, to Soft, bring the swell pedal quickly all way up to match the softest level you switched at, and continue fading out.

The C series Nords use the same swell pedal curve model as the original Hammond. Just use your master volume knob to slowly lower the volume, then fade out with the swell pedal.

Thinking off the top of my head you could possibly push in drawbars to complete the fade.

I use the volume pot.

I guess that adding menu options to "completely fade" or "Hammond emulation" would cover all users needs.

Thank you for the replies. I agree that "hammond mode" and "completely fade" would be an excellent addition to the settings menu, but for now I'll have to use the workaround with the volume pot, which works very well.

You use the drawbars for a complete fade out. Most pll just leave the at 8. The combination swell and drawbars gives you a limitless amount of dynamics

Just to see what would happen, I connected an analog volume pedal (Ernie Ball) to the output of my C2 and tried it. Not the same thing at all.

An analog pedal could be used in the output to go from the bottom of the expression pedal to zero, without disturbing the master volume knob.

I have only just replaced my Korg BX3 (the newer model) by a Nord C2D. The sound, the keyboards and the leslie emulation of the C2D are much better, BUT…to me, the sound not going to zero when the expression pedal is all up (although the display reads "0") is a real pain in the ass. I know this corresponds to the real thing's behavior, but why copy such a shortcoming when it is perfectly possible to do it properly? I mean, digital pianos are thankfully not designed to go out of tune, although the thing does! I sincerely hope the guys at Nord are willing to change this in the near future.
