Re: will they ever have a schimmel grand?
When it comes to grands there is actually not too much to be desired at this point. The variety we have is great.
Still, one may imagine... Over the years people have been asking for a new sampling of a Steinway D, adding dynamics (including greater dynamics in timbre, from a warm and mellow ppp to a brilliant fff), quality, sustain everywhere, and substance in the treble section to the the existing Lady D. I agree that would be a great move.
Moreover I still miss a lot the possibility to fine-tune individual keys, including the possibility to choose a custom temperament etc. But that is a desire for further hardware changes (Nord Piano 4?) rather than just a new sound.
Soundwise other types of instrument may be more pressing... but actually since the Nefertiti arrived I am quite happy with what we've got!

Yeah, Kurzweil provided a per Key velocity map recently for the Forte. Per key tuning is there since ever.

Hm... tuned individual keys? I wonder how often those are tweaked.

If you could put down your temperaments in files and load them when needed there would be some of us who'd make quite a bit of use of them.Mr_-G- wrote:Hm... tuned individual keys? I wonder how often those are tweaked.
I recall spending long hours in the night programming tuning files for my Kurzweil K2000R back in time... which was when I learned quite a bit about temperaments and micro-tuning.
