NLA1 : looking for the Pink Floyd's Moog !
Hi
I'd like to have a Moog lead program, which sounds like the intro of "Shine on you Crazy Diamond"
I'm trying to create it by myself, but I still do not manage to do something good ...
would you have it ?

Salut, Yves!
You mean the flute-ish sound with a little vibrato during the intro, with some pads in the background?
You could use almost anything ... not even the band themselves had probably exactly the same sound at every gig? (OK, I know this is blasphemy ... )
(I have not yet understood the greatness of Floyd ... awaiting a flame war for that statement.)
/Amicalement
Michael, en vacances, sans NLA1 ...

NE3HP, NP88, NS2, DPP1, NL2X, NL2X, NLA1, NL4, NE5D, NW2 (Collect Them All?), some classic Rolands, Arturias, a Waldorf, a Kurz, a WONOK3, a pile of guitars, a P-bass, loopers, amps and computers ...

yes, that's this sound i'm talking about, strating at 1.19
actually, I'm just looking for the lead sound, not the strings behind, 'cos I allready have it on my NE3 with a Solina sample.

Re: NLA1 : looking for the Pink Floyd's Moog !
Salut!
(My simple & mellow) Recipe:
only one osc: triangle = 2, or A3 or A4, try them out (it is probably saw on the Moog, but tri is more mellow on ny NLA1)
osc config: pitch, not activated
mono
unison 3
vibrato wheel
filter: (this is the most important part of the patch) freq 0, res 0, LP Moog, kb track 1, mod env amt 6.0
mod env: 4.0 - 6.0 - 3.0
amp: 4.5 - 10 - 2.5 (second most important part of the patch)
chorus: 2.0
ping pong rate 2.0, fb 1
Now ... tweak and play around with the settings, 'til it fits your taste!
Even try the saw osc ...
But Kroffe or Ricard could do it much better!
And there are now 53 matches on this forum if you search for "crazy diamond" - I don't understand why!

Re: NLA1 : looking for the Pink Floyd's Moog !
Thanx Marlowes !
It's a great begining
I'm loking for something a lil' bit more ... "creamy" , but off course, a NLA1 is not a Minimoog

Re: NLA1 : looking for the Pink Floyd's Moog !
Saut Yves!
Jup ... it's a starting point.
Creamy? Have you got room to make a performance patch? It's a very nice feature of any NL.
In slot A, open my mellow patch.
In slot B, open the same.
Now in slot B, change to saw waveform.
Adjust the "balance" with the volume at right, at the top ...
Just an idea ... might work, might not. Not in my "studio" now, but in my bar, hence the wild guessing ...
/Amicalement
Michael, presque dessoûlé

Think this might be what you are looking for, I think it's more brass than woodwind
