Performance mode and Midi?
Performance mode and Midi?
Looked around for this a bit and didn't find anything so I'm wondering if it is even possible.
In performance mode on the A1, can I use one of the performance sections for an external Midi? I don't want to process it through the A1, I would just like it to trigger keys on an external unit when that part of the voice is active. Is that possible?

Hej Dave!
Most things are possible with the famous NLA1.
But here, I'm not really following exactly what you are planning to hook up.
Maybe I'm too tired because it's Sunday night 22:28 here now ... sorry!

Re: Performance mode and Midi?
So what I'm trying to accomplish is something like this in Performance mode.
A - Prog 8.11
B - Prog 8.12
C - Prog 8.13
D - Midi control of my Stage on whatever setting is on there.
Basically I would like to be able to be able to select any of the 3 programs and then flip over to control an external unit within a performance or overlay any of them together.
Does that make more sense?

NLA1 as a master kbd?
Hej Dave!
So, you want to use the NLA1 as a MIDI master kbd? As far as as I understand:
Yes, you can set up the NLA1 (program or performance mode does not matter) to transmit MIDI to an external unit (according to the table on page 35 in the manual).
Slot is only of importance for incoming signals. The keybed alway sends (or not) as set up (chapter 11 - read carefully, please).
I would not try controlling a Stage or something like it from the NLA1, but I often play my Blofish desktop from it!
Then I can have both sounds in parallel and mix by their volume knobs.
The knobs on the NLA1 have specific CC parameters, and are not programmable, like for example a Behringer BCR2000.
... as far as I know ...

Re: Performance mode and Midi?
As far as MIDI OUT is concerned the Nord Lead keyboard is all one keyboard (not split).
The closest I've gotten is to create a split on the Lead, and make one half of the split silent. Then, on my sound module (computer in this case), I create a patch which only responds to the range of the keyboard where the Lead is silent. So, I have a split where one side is Lead and the other is the sound module.
Then, I allow the Lead program changes to change programs on the module, and set up my patches on the Lead and the module accordingly. For patches where I want all Lead and no module, I just program the module to be silent on those programs.

Re: Performance mode and Midi?
What are your MIDI MENU settings on the Nord and on the remote controller? Without more info, it is difficult to offer advice...

Re: Performance mode and Midi?
Hi thanks for replying, I figured it out when I started looking properly instead of rushing!, I changed the midi channels on the slots to match the keystation and turned the global to off. It seems to do what i want, I've only had it a day and can't keep off it.
Cheers
