Hello guys, I'm stumped on what should be really easy to do, but I can't make it work, so I'd be grateful to anyone who can tell me what I'm doing wrong. I have 4 samples, all of different sounds, that I want to map on my Stage 2. They are simple sound effects. They are named with the corresponding note name, e.g. [Sound]c2, [Sound]c#2, etc. I imported the WAVs in Sample Editor and assigned them by name, which automatically mapped them to C2, C#2, etc. I figured this should be really easy and straightforward, however when I generate (with Unpitched option) and download the sound to my Stage 2, all I have is one of these 4 sounds, unpitched, and mapped to the whole keyboard. I can't understand what to tweak, as the Root Key dialog boxes seem to have no effect whatever note I set them to. Can you please give me a hint? I can post a screenshot if necessary.
Thank you very much.

Re: Stumped on Sample Editor
I think that screenshot might be very helpful... I have done plenty of this and not had a problem

Re: Stumped on Sample Editor
Hi Pablo, thanks for your help. This is the screenshot.
I am fiddling with the Root Key box, but nothing seems to change.
Other than that, I have not edited any parameter, I just opened the editor and imported the wavs, then generated the instrument and downloaded.

Re: Stumped on Sample Editor
Have you tried to assing manually instead automatically?
All looks fine in the picture.
If you want, send me the samples in mp3 format and i' ll do it for you.

Re: Stumped on Sample Editor
The issue is if the sample editor allows you to assign multiple unpitched samples? I am not sure about this although I cannot see why it shouldn't, sorry I cannot check it right now. I have been able to assign single unpitched samples, but I have not tried multiple ones.

Re: Stumped on Sample Editor
From the picture, it would appear that the four samples have been assigned to the four designated notes in accordance with the way you named them. Have you STORED your project file?
When is the last time you GENERATED that file? Sometimes when involved in editing things in Nord Sample Editor alongside my instrument, I make changes on the computer and am momentarily surprised when I do not hear them on the keyboard -- then remember to STORE and then GENERATE my new .nsmp file.
As for manually setting things, try using the START KEY assignment box in the Multi Sample Per File Assign portion of that screen.
Please let us know how this works out...

Re: Stumped on Sample Editor
From the picture it seems you're doing ok, but what we cannot see is the sequence of actions.
What I do is usually:
- import all the files
- select on the wave diagram the file (or part of) I'm interested in
- manually assign to the intended key
- (optional) assign silent samples to the keys before and after my sound, so I only have it on the intended key and it's not extended upwards and downwards
- repeat for all the desired sounds-keys
- generate and download the .nsmp file
Usually this workflow is fine with me, but there are many parameters you can fiddle with (starts, loops, pitches, volumes, etc), and I have experienced some strange behaviour of the editor when working with lots of samples or unusual parameters (long loops, many portions of the same sound assigned to different keys, etc).
Usually deassigning everything and starting over in manual mode solves any problem.
Hope this helps, ciao!

Re: Stumped on Sample Editor
Hello.
I have a similar problem: i can not seem to assign only a one wav sample in Nord Sample Editor to only a exact key, without automap to other keys...
How to assign only a wav sample to only a one note? it's possible to do this with Sample Editor?
Nobody knows how to solve this?
Thank you in advance.

Re: Stumped on Sample Editor
What about creating short silence samples and put it next to the sounding sample?

Thank's for your kindly reply Mr_-G-: yes, it works.
But i was wondering if there is a way to not have the one sample auto map on the entire keyboard: it's so strange this?
It's impossibile to load a single sample on a single note without the "expedient" of silence?
