Keyboard noise issue..??

Postby Rickster » 18 Aug 2011, 23:58

Hi, I have just bought a Nord Piano 88. I love the instrument - action and sounds are great.

One problem with the keyboard. Certain keys (D3 and D4 on mine) are making a funny noise. When playing loud you cannot notice it but when playing softly and/or at low amp volume it's quite offputting. Hard to describe but the best I can do is a "high-pitched popping or tapping sound". It happens immediately you touch the key, even if lightly.

Just wondered if anyone else had this, and does it go away with a bit of use? If not I will swap out for another one.

cheers

I'm not sure, but I think your noise's coming from a spring which aren't properly placed. As far as I know every Nord keyboard's got that noise and unfortunately, it will only become worse if you use it. If you're not afraid to open your keyboard, you can use this link to get rid of the noise.

I've had the same thing happen to mine, but only when it was brand new. The popping will fade with playing.

It could be just because the keybed is new.

Though my very first NP had a whole key break down, the whole hammer :wtf:
But I got a replacement and this one works great, but I did get the noise in the first couple of weeks. After playing on those keys, the noise fades away...

I can't say I've noticed it on mine :shifty:

thanks guys - much appreciated. it seems to be getting less noticeable with some use. if it persists I will have a go at re-setting the springs.
