I spoke with my Sweetwater rep last week; he told me that he's been selling a LOT of Nord products since 1998, and has only encountered one problem/return. It happens sometimes.
When I got my new NE3 a couple of months ago, it had a bad LED ina the Octave Shift area. Sweetwater replaced it immediately and the replacement is working fine.
