Re: Nord Drum 3
Well.. though it's almost 2 years old - the ND2 still feels fresh to me, but who knows...

2012 - Nord Drum 1
2013 - Nord Drum 2
2015 - no Nord Drum 3. Why? From today it is officially - the next big thing from Nord is new Electro 5:

Clavia is very small company (20 people) and I think they have no enough resources for developing new Nord Drum.

Re: Nord Drum 3
Yes, I too think that the NE5 will be the only new instrument on the NAMM 2015 show, - but still.. you never know...
perhaps the question is if there would be big enough a market for a new Nord Drum version now -
speaking of which - any suggestions / ideas a ND3 should look like?

Of course red! And then:
- 8 channels
- 8 seprate outputs + stereo output mode
- new synthesis models (e.g. physical modeling, PD, more sophisticated FM)
- more effects
- assignable effects per channel
- big graphic display (now they know how to do it - see Electro 5)
- max. $700

Re: Nord Drum 3
Yes,
All effects are set per channel already - maybe I misunderstood your suggestion there?
I quite like the ND2 as it is, very happy in general!
I have been thinking about the user interface, - it is very clean and simple, well laid out, very easy to edit!
Though, sometimes I wished it was slightly more direct, especially whilst playing.
I realize that if they'd make a knob for each parameter -of each channel, it would make it more expensive, big, and look like a mixing board, which might not help either..
(Simmons seems very well useable though)
What is excellent is that all parameters are accessible through MIDI (CC control), which (amongst other things) opens up the possibility to make live editors etc on tablets,
- and so maybe I should invest some more time in making a nice layout that works for me on my tablet..
I'm also thinking about pads, and expression of playing. I like the idea of positional sensing, like Roland's 'supernatural' units have, or the Mandala multi-zone pad. Some other aspects of Rolands technology I like as well; the way the units respond to repeated hits on a cymbal pad - making the cymbal sound build up /swell.. I'm not tempted to buy Roland gear because, well, it's grey, boring, sample based, and too expensive for me anyway..
I don't think it's feasible for Nord to incorporate such technologies, even if they wanted to - probably heavily patented to start with, .
But I do like to fantasize about the combination of such technologies and synthesized sounds..
For the rest some minor things, perhaps in Noise section uncouple envelops for filter and amp - and perhaps adding more envelop parameters, or LFO in the Tone section, reinstate Click decay as in ND1
I hope they won't go into multi-velocity-layered-samples, but perhaps being able to use samples a bit like it's done in the wave could be fun..
..just some .. fantasies
Albert

Re: Nord Drum 3
I would love to be able to set a Nord Drum 3 on my Nord Lead and jam along with it. That's provided the Nord Drum 3 would "finally" have a built in sequencer of some sort. Having to attach an ipad or another sequencer has kept me from purchasing any of the Nord Drums and I feel that might ring true with with a few others on the fence. I always thought it would have been cool to set a nice small Nord Drum machine on the nord leads or some of their other products. That would have been cool. Thus my wish for a Nord Drum 3 would be a sequencer.

Re: Nord Drum 3
It would be cool if the Nord Drum 3 could be triggered by sensors vs. piezo pads...
