LFO and Wah ?

Postby Frantz » 01 Aug 2011, 15:31

Hi,

On the NS2, is it possible to make the Wah effect "oscilliate" (follow a rate/tempo or a LFO) ?

I think it is a quite usual function, for instance here with pianoteq on a clavinet :

On the NS2, I select the "A-Wah" effect but the "rate/tempo" knob is doing nothing, the "master clock" does not work either.

That should be obvious ... but I can't do it, I am a beginner with the NS2 and I need help please.

:thanx:

LFO and Wah ?

The A-Wah is infact an automatic, one shot, wah effect. Another way to control wah is by choosing the regular Wah and activating it with the control pedal (using the morph function).
The only lfo-like effects are vibrato, pan, phaser etc.

Hello frantzkb,
zahush76 is correct about the Auto Wah function.
The manual is unclear about how the regular wah functions.
Have you tried Wah-Wah with the Master clock set to control rate?
Shift and Focus while the appropriate effect is selected "and the "MST CLK" LED should light.

Hi,
:thanks: for your answers.
I tried the "wah wah" + "master clock" and the led does not light up, so nothing.
It is clear that the "a-wa1" and "a-wa2" effects are "on shot".
An auto wah with LFO is really missing, it's often applied to rhodes, clavs, but many electro sounds as well (for funk, by Jamiroquai for instance).
Maybe there is a kind of control pedal that can generate a curve ... ? or maybe the (bad) solution is to put an external effect ... ?
Another (bad) idea is to sample the sound, but the rate/tempo would be fixed.

I wish this could be a software upgrade for the NS : make this "master clock" and "rate button" active for the "wah wah" effect.

The actual manual page 37 :

Wa-Wa
The Wah-Wah modulation is a lowpass type of filter that can be swept across the frequency range. During the sweep, the filter’s characteristics also changes.
You control the “pedal position” of the Wah with the Rate/Tempo knob
and the wet/dry mix with the Amount knob. An expression pedal connected to the Control Pedal Input can be used
to control the filter sweep. This allows you to control the Wah-Wah effect
with the pedal, using the Morph function - see page 19.

My wish is to add this line (in a better english of course :D) :

When this is done (a morph control is assigned to this knob for this wah effect), the Rate/Tempo knob goes back to its primary function which is to control the Rate/Tempo at which the pedal position is oscillating.

This could be done by software ...
