I have a kronos X73 and a stage 2 sw73. The kronos is sitting at home now.
Even though I used it for 3 years as my one keyboard I find the stage is
easier and more fun to play.
The Kronos does sound amazing. 16 zones and practically no reachable
limit on polyphony live. 12 freely assignable effects of quality.
Along with built effects in some of the 9 engines. It does anything.
But it does not inspire on the fly creation live. You have to spend a lot
of time setting it up. And if your in the middle of playing and want to
change anything you really have to think about how it will effect your
playing when you drop out of set list mode etc. and then?
The moment is gone.
I love my stage and wonder why I didnt get one years ago.
It's changed my musical life back to eagerly looking forward to
doing new things mid song or mid set and not worrying about
the consequences.
And really just throwing down and playing. No more mad scientist
starring at screen wondering what to do.
In case your wondering about the weighted key connection I use
a Yamaha CP4 MIDIed up to it. I've finally got back a perfect rig
for me after years of workstations. As always your mileage may
vary but I've found my flavor of greener grass.

Well said indeed, this is the essence of what I like to describe to people looking at Nord Stage for the first time. It not only changes the way you play, it changes the way you think about playing. Things which were previously possible after long programming sessions are suddenly available at your fingertips on a moment's whim during live performance. There's no going back...

You do pay for that user experience in flexibility, though in a way.
The Nord giveth; the Nord taketh away…

Having a Kronos I can understand that point.
But having limitations is important too.
What you do to push and craft within those boundaries actually makes you
a better musician.
I look at the stage and feel I have a tool set of top notch
foundation insruments that I can manipulate and wring the best
out of.
You really play the Stage as a living thing.
It is an insrument. Not a computer full of noises that needs
attention and direction.
It sounds like I'm a bit over the top reading this back but I am
completely turned around to a better way of playing.
Edited because small screen = errors
