Plug Nord Pad into a Computer?
Can I plug the Nord pad into the ethernet jack on my laptop? Is it possible to transmit midi this way too?

Also, note that the Nord Pad does not transmit midi at all...the ND2 does based on data received from the Pad. Removing the ND2 from the equation removes the midi as well.

Re: Plug Nord Pad into a Computer?
The Nord Pad is supplied power by the Nord Drum 2 whereas your computer's Ethernet port won't supply that power. On top of that you can be guaranteed that the Nord Pad doesn't communicate using the Ethernet and TCP/IP protocols. You won't ever be able to plug it directly into your computer or a network hub and you'd have to build a device so complex that it wouldn't be worth the effort.
If you look at Chapter 5, page 29 of the Nord Drum 2 user manual you'll see that it acts as a Trigger-to-MIDI interface, so that conversion box you're talking about is the Nord Drum 2 itself. So connect the Nord Pad to your Nord Drum 2, connect MIDI out from the Nord Drum 2 to your device of choice, and finally turn the volume all the way down on the Nord Drum 2.
That is, unless you bought a Nord Pad without buying a Nord Drum 2 In which case, sell that thing on ebay and get yourself a Roland Octapad
