But ... sample ... if you have an Electro and want to play piano, you should really use the npno files instead of nsmp?
And you can only find npno here:
http://www.nordkeyboards.com/main.asp?tm=Sound%20Libraries&cllibr=Nord_Piano_Library_v5
??? :?
NE3HP, NP88, NS2, DPP1, NL2X, NL2X, NLA1, NL4, NE5D, NW2 (Collect Them All?), some classic Rolands, Arturias, a Waldorf, a Kurz, a WONOK3, a pile of guitars, a P-bass, loopers, amps and computers ...

I mean ... will a nsmp-sample have the same dynamic joyful playability as a npno?

(To me, music is condensed feelings, so it's a very not exact science. Unlike math.
Well ... OK, music is math too ... just listen to a fugue by Bach, perhaps performed by Wendy Carlos?) ;)

No.

npno contains multiple velocity samples, nsmp can only contain a single velocity sample. You can get some volume and timbre variation with velocity using the "Vel Dyn" function but it won['t be as sophisticated as what Nord does using multiple samples per note on their npno samples.

OTOH, Hey Jude doesn't not require a lot of subtle dynamic expression. ;-)

I'd say the sound on record is unnatural - a lot of compression used. A single velocity sample would probably do it well BUT wouldn't feel very expressive to play! A lot of of piano sounds tend to sound a lot like that if you use compression. With compression, the volume doesn't change much but different velocity will result in tonal variation.

Exactly, a lot of compression and mid freq up, and you have the "Hey Jude" piano.
