Formulas to achieve specific BPM with Nord Wave?

Post by Stellafive »

Hi there,
I'm pretty new to subtractive synthesis and am working with the nord wave which doesnt recognize an external midi clock.  When aiming for a specific bpm im using a lot of time to get the wave to match the BPM and am having a hard time even pinpointing the main factors contributing to the perceived BPM of the nord sounds.   I feel like the oscillators and the delay are the main suspects but I want to determine their mathematical relationship so I can save time when shooting for a specific BPM....any rule of thumb formulas out there??
Any input much appreciated!

Best,
Stella

PS
I understand there are charts for delay and the 60000 ms/tempo = delay in ms,
Also I think I understand HZ should be set at the desired BPM divided by 60, and multiples of that,(?)
And assumed that these together should land me on the BPM, but it's not quite....what am I missing that contributes to BPM in subtractive synthesis?

Hi Stellafive,

Your note left me a little confused at first, but I think I've figured it out: your first line references setting of delay and the second line references setting of LFO, yes?

Getting those things dialed in with any high degree of precision, particularly with respect to LFO, will be a virtually impossible task. You can get it into the neighborhood, but not to lock.
