The Nord Piano 88 is a beautiful instrument and has been helpful both at gigs and in the studio - so much so that now that I am having troubles, I don't know how I am going to do without it for long enough to get it fixed!
I had a power surge through my computer while playing the Nord and had to get my motherboard in the computer replaced. Now that I have it back, the Nord won't connect to the computer via USB. It makes the sound that indicates it recognizes that I've plugged it in, but then when I try to apply the update from version 1.44, the computer says there is an ERROR: Not connected.
Unrelated but also troubling is that one of the keys in the middle of the piano doesn't control its velocity anymore - anytime I play it, it just plays at fairly loud - about 120.
Also a spring in the pedals has broken. Obviously it has seen much use.
My big concern is the USB problem. I am going to get a Midi to USB to see if it's just the port. other than that, how can something like this be fixed?
Thanks!
Jody

Re: Trouble with Nord Piano 88
Loud key is probably due to dust in the contacts. Please search this site to see how people resolve that (you might have to open the instrument if you are brave, or send it to a service to clean the contacts). Actually there should be a FAQ about it!
No idea about the USB issue, since I do not know about the NP, but just in case, have you installed the Clavia USB driver? Can you connect to the instrument through another computer?
Pedal broken: I would open it up and see if it can be fixed, perhaps a spring is out of position or similar.
