Nord Electro 3 73HP Midi via USB?

Postby Souljam » 30 Oct 2011, 23:22

Hi,
I´m a Clavia newbie and totaly happy with my new NE3 73HP.
But I have on question: When I connect the clavia from the USB port to my macbook nothing happens. In Logic Audio it´s the same. Nothing happens.
My "old" Roland Rd 700 worked great via USB with Logic and Sibelius.
Is it possible that the USB Port is only for Data transfer like OS and Sounds?

many thanks for your help
Uli

Reason: Added correct naming convention for the appropriate Nord model

Hello Souljam,
Welcome to the forums!
Which Nord model do you have?
Is it the Electro 3?
or the Nord Piano?
If it is the Electro 3, then MIDI is not supported over its' USB connection.

Cheers, Hanon

Hello Uli,
I have moved this topic to the correct forum (Electro).
The Nord Piano (NP) is a different product.

The NE3 73HP 's USB port is only for OS upgrades, data backups, and connection to the Nord Sound Manager (NSM) and Nord Sample Editor (NSE) applications.
A good option under $30 USD is the Emu XMIDI 1X1

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Hello restoshock,
Welcome to the forums.
Yes,
the USB in the electro series is only for data transfer, not MIDI.

I'm a bit confused here, so sorry in advance for possibly asking the obvious, but what exactly would I need if I want to control my Sunrizer synth app on my IPad with my Electro 3? I understand that the Electro's don't support MIDI over the USB cable so that means I need something like the IRig MIDI interface? Do you have experience with these kind of interfaces?

Thanks

Nils

Ok for the PC to the keyboard but in other way ?....

How can we plug a USB midi controller (who don't have midi out connector ? ) to the NE3 ?
