You're trying to save the selection knob for posterity? :wtf:

I'm not quite sure how to parse those two comments?

In any case, if the Nord were to develop an encoder problem, how hard is it to open up and apply deoxit?

Oh right, the selection knob is detented. I never use it!

Ok, here's the deal, at least on the stages and electros the rotary encoders with LEDs surrounding them have no detents. The stage's selection knob does have detents, but it's the only one.

I'm trying to do what I can to make this more confusing.

Am I correct to expect the Nord encoders will eventually need deoxit?

It's possible, but I've never had any trouble with any of my Nords, the oldest being my Stage Classic I had for over 5 years with no problems. Only time will tell, though. I have yet to hear of this complaint.

I also haven't heard of anyone needing to treat the encoders on their Nords. Lots of old equipment like the original Nord Leads are still on the market and I hear nobody complaining about jumpy encoders.

You might reach a point where encoders go bad (after many years of use), but if that's due to wear and tear DeoxIT isn't going to help. If people need to treat their encoders, is seems rather uncommon. Mind you, pots wear down too.

Btw. the sample selection encoder in the synth section of the NS2 is definitely of the clicky type.

oy. Yes, this too. The clicky types don't have the LEDs.

If I recall correctly, and nobody should trust my recollection, the Lead 3 was the first to use the encoders and it's been out for over 10 years and I've yet to hear of a problem with them.

Hopefully this ends my streak of bad memory and misinformation, and we can all get back to playing our wonderful, blue keyboards. Right guys? eh?

I don't know how it works on the Stage 2, but on the Stage Classic the encoders are the morphable controls (plus the drawbars of course).

Filter cut-off, resonance, etc. can't be morphed on the original Stage?
