piano samples

Postby rb4u1 » 19 Mar 2012, 02:22

I was pleasantly surprised by the Piano/Strings samples that I downloaded from here. The limited dynamics seems like a plus since the E3 is missing any kind of velocity control. Can anyone recommend a sample of an existing piano patch that I can download into the synth section ?

Hello rb4u1,
see if this one meets your need:

I'm curious, what would be the benefit of loading a plain piano into the synth section of an E3?

I understand the benefit of loading a layered piano+string patch; I understand the benefit of loading a plain piano into a Nord Wave that has no piano section; I can even see the benefit of being able to load it into a Nord Stage 2 where you can process the sound through its synth section. But what do you gain by doing this on an E3?

I was wondering about this too, for the reasons you list. But judging from his post ('the limited dynamics seems like a plus') maybe he doesn't want the piano to change sound based on velocity (except maybe volume).

Thanks Hanon,
I downloaded the 4 mb version and tried it with headphones and speakers both.
I am finding that generally speaking these samples work best for me with the Vel Dyn Brill on and Rel 2 med.
However where i was experiencing some velocity differences with the piano strings layer, I couldn't discern any velocity differences whatsoever.Still may be useful for some of those repititious things where my hand gets tired.
Thanks very much,
RB4U1
