The Nord C1, C2 and C2D Organ Forum

I've bought a C2D but what about Farfisa mode ?

Postby wunderbarman » 22 Feb 2012, 15:17

Hello folks,
I am new here so I hope you all forgive me for butting in on this occasion.
I have read many of the posts regarding the C2D and there seems to be a lot of unanswered questions. I have took the gamble and ordered one as I used
to have a Nord C1 and liked it very much although I am one of those players who always prefers physical drawbars which is why I have been tempted by the C2D. I like the Nord sound and not to worried how close to a Hammond it will sound as I am more of a lounge lizard than a jazz player.
Although my Cd2 is supposed to be arriving maybe the end of next week, I am really curious to know how the drawbars will affect the organ when in Farfisa mode as on the previous models the tabs are either on or off. The same goes for the pipe organ I suppose, so I am wondering if the drawbars will act as volume sliders instead of on off tabs, if so then this would give me quite a bit of scope for blending the different stops together. If no one here knows how the drawbars will operate in the Farf mode then
it maybe the case that I will be one of the first to find out , then I will have answered my own question but neverthless will report what I find out on this forum in case anyone else is wondering the same thing.
There does not seem to be much info and the PDF user manual is not available as yet although some of the Naam videos on youtube are good, so I'll just have to wait I suppose.

Hello wunderbarman,
Welcome to the forums.
The C2D drawbars will function identical to the drawbuttons of the C2 and act as on/ off tabs for the Farfisa model, just as the original farfisa had.
Clavia has been real faithful to mimic the original, why change now.

The Pipe Organ Stops will function similarly.

What other "unanswered" questions were there?
Cheers, hanon

Thankyou Hanon, I appreciate your help.
I re-read my last post and I didn't mean it to sound negative so I am sorry about that. My clumbsy sweeping statement about "lots of unanswered questions"
was untrue and maybe due to me getting out of bed on the wrong side yesterday. So I take that back.
I am really looking forward to my New Nord and the Naam videos gave a good description and it sounds great.
I accept that the Farfisa mode should stay as on/off like you say--"to keep true to the original"
There are a couple more questions you may be able to help with though? I am intending to use a set of Hammond XPK200 bass pedals and a Yamaha FC7 volume pedal. I know the FC7 works fine because I used it when I had the C1 organ , but what about the midi bass? I read on this forum somewhere that someone else got rid of their Hammond pedals because of some reason or other saying they weren't compatible with the Nord. Isn' t it just a matter of standard midi to midi end of story?
The other thing I would like to know is , are there some slots at the back of the C2D for a music rest ?

Best wishes to you.

Hi wunderbarman,
No worries, we're here to help :D
The biggest issue of compatibility with the Hammond-Suzuki pedals, isn't the pedal notes themselves, it's that the volume pedal and rotary speaker switch units require modifications to be compatible (XK series pedals).

The MIDI portion of the XPK-200 works fine.

The C2D has music stand receptacles, and uses the same music stand "music rest" as the C2:

I agree with JasonLollar that the Roland PK-25 is the better choice.
Of course, budget not withstanding, the Nord Pedal Keys is the best choice ;)

I'm looking forward to you receiving the C2D, posting your thoughts, and perhaps some pics.
Congratulations on your purchase.

Cheers, Hanon

Hi Hanon, :)
Thanks for your help once again. Regarding the Hammond bass pedals , as I now know the midi notes will ok, I can live with not being able to use control switches as I am happy to use the fast and slow buttons on the Nord itself. :thanx:
The music shop where I have ordered the C2D has told me that they are expected at their warehouse today, and delivery to me will probably be
next monday or tueseday so I am quite excited about this. :D
I will certainly keep you up to date on what I find with my C2D. I will post some pictures, although as I am new to this forum can you tell me how I insert them into my posting. or if I can't shall I email them to you? :?

Best wishes

Update on C2D shipping

Postby wunderbarman » 04 Mar 2012, 12:42

Hi Hannon,
I,ve been informed that my C2D will not be shipped till the end of March, these are probably the first batch
to come to England. They told me at the shop that they must have got their wires crossed when informed over
the phone from the Nord rep. that shipping was thought to be the end of Feb. This info I was given seems to be
in line with the info about the C2D on the actual Clavia website. I have searched around and there is no new info on
the organ or pdf download of the user manual yet.

Hi wunderbarman,
I'm sorry to hear that you'll have to wait another month.
As soon as the manual becomes available, I'll post a link to it here.
I really thought that the C2D would be added to the new products page by March 2012 and the manual added to downloads sometime after that.
Possibly by April ;)
Thanks for the update.
Cheers, Hanon

Re: C2Shipping and info

Postby wunderbarman » 04 Mar 2012, 19:50

Thanks Hanon,
I,m curious to read the Pdf, although the actual organ might arrive first. It was different when I bought the C1 because it had been already on the market for a few months before I bought one directly from a music shop which already had them
in stock.
When I hear anymore I,ll let you know but will start it as a fresh topic.
Best wishes, Wunderbarman
