Saving Nord settings to smartcard or other portable memory?

Postby mishelina » 18 Jan 2011, 14:37

Hello Hello....

I am wondering if there is any way to save the settings of the Nord Stage to something (a card, or other
external portable device) which you can then load onto another Nord Stage. So that instead of lugging
your Nord on/off planes you can have the Nord provided as backline and just bring your stick.

If not, any suggestions for quality keyboards/workstations that do this?

Thanks!
M

Hello.

You can save the programs from your Nord Stage to a computer through the Nord Sound Manager, and then load them onto another Nord Stage from the computer.
Of course you could also put the programs from the computer and save them on a memory stick. But you would still need a computer with the Nord Sound Manager installed, to load the programs back onto a Nord Stage. But if you could get access to that (and another Nord Stage), you could just bring a memory stick/CD/DVD with your programs when traveling.
You should also make sure to bring the piano-samples you want, because those might not be in the other Nord Stage. Those can also be transfered through the Nord Sound Manager on a computer.

Hope this helps abit.

I don't really know much about other keyboards. I think the Roland RD700 series can use a USB-stick to transfer settings.

Have fun.

Awesome! Thank you for the suggestion!

Anything I should know about this Nord Manager xfer process - like things to look out for?
Like, for example, I have the Nord Stage EX Compact - does it need to be the exact same model?
Or will it work with older models as well?

Thanks for your help.

as far as i know the only difference between the versions are the size of the keybed.
if you have done your PROGRAMs on a compact there should be no problem at all playing them back on a 76 or an 88 keys model.
the keyboard ZONEs split points are on the same positions for all models. only that you are 8 keys shorter in the low range and 7 keys shorter in the upper range compared to the 88.

I think its compatible as long as its a Nord Stage, even NSex and NS are compatible if I recall correctly.

It´s pretty easy to use , I´d say

Hi!!
Be careful also about the OS (Operating System) that you find on the NS.
Some of the new piano sounds works just with the latest OS , so my suggestion is to put latest OS in the usbkey you carry with you , or in the laptop if you don't find any on location (but nowadays in every stage there's someone with a laptop...).
this way you can load latest os on the machine , then latest sounds.
Remember to bring with you BOTH nord stage classic and nord stage EX operating system , so you'll be ok for any kind of NS you'll find.
hope it helps
Fabio
