I plan to make the NS3 the heart of my setup...
I will add it to my Ketron SD40 arranger..
Also i plan to add my new surfacebook (comming from mac with mainstage/logic)
I will use the ketron for backings, midi files and styles
I will be using the Surfacebook mostly for hosting my VST collection
But also for recording and edditing midi and audio ( to be used as backings in the ketron)
I don’t aim to add any extra midi controlling gear for the VST part if not absolutely necesary
So touchscreen support is a huge pro
I also hope to use the daw as a framework for midi routing, and audio mixing.
So here is the question, what DAW is my best choice?
I am currently considering :
- ableton live
- reason
- bitwig
The modular form of reason seems perfect for creating a framework for the midirouting and audio mixing..
Where ableton live offers huge flexibillity in controlling external instruments
Any advise based on your experiences would be really appreciated..

Re: Daw advise for NS3?
The choice of the DAW is independent from your setup, i.e. regardless a NS3 is part of it or not.
Most if not all of them allow flexible Audio and MIDI Routing.
So the choice depends on many parameters, including your "attitude" as a user; I suggest to look for trial or Lite versions and do some tests + you may also try Reaper.

+1000 for Reaper - cheap, and small CPU footprint, can do just about anything.

Re: Daw advise for NS3?
I know there is not “a best DAW”
But here should be a best daw for my specific situation
I think ns3 is part of that situation, as ns3 is not really a masterkey where you can easilly assign ccs to programable knobs and sliders.
Offcourse all can do this, but not all allow me to set this up as a framework that comes back with every patch, but require me to set it up again with every patch.... using mainstage on my old mac, the concert was programmed as the framework... and i think i can also archieve this on Reason, in a more modular form.. but not really on live or bitwig.
I am currently looking into some test versions to see what works for me... yet still any experience

Re: Daw advise for NS3?
Because Mainstage is not a a DAW. So if you now work on a Windows computer you need to look for Cantabile, Forte Brainspawn, Akai VIP, the newly announced Camelot Pro or similar (say "advanced VST Hosts") as an equivalent solution, not DAWs

Can you develop? Not sure I understand what you mean.
In Ableton, the way I worked was the following: On one channel, I created a huge instrument rack with all the instruments/sounds/VST etc... I need. I then created one cell per program. Launching that cell (with a controller for instance. In my case with a foot pedal to keep my hands free) would send all the needed messages to all hardwares/VST/effects so everything would be instantly ready to be played.
I would then only have to rearrange the cells/lines according the playlist.
Looked like this (yes, I'm highly talented with Paint I'm not in front of my personal computer so can't printscreen the real thing )
Then you can create other channels with effects racks (works the same way), backing tracks, whatever you need...
Again, you then just need to rearrange the lines according to your playlist. All messages being saved inside of each cell.
Don't know if I'm clear...
Anyway... not saying this is the best way to go. Just saying it was mine.
