Nord gear as an educational equipment

Postby muikq » 17 Oct 2015, 14:25

Just got my new NS2. I'm waiting my turn to play it after this maestro goes to sleep. My older (2 years) son likes to "wake up" the drawbars. And then they go to sleep. Again. And again.

A new game is also using the rotor speed indicator led as traffic lights when kids pass the keyboard with their cars and trucks. I liked the old NS classic style better, but now I'm waiting the yellow light to come on NS3. The kids are an ultimate test for how sturdy instrument can be.

But seriously, I'm interested if people use Nord gear in teaching or educational purposes? Mostly the school instruments are more simple and cheaper, I've mostly seen Yamaha and Korg in schools with younger children. First Nords (stages) I saw was in my music university. I accidentally just found an unused Nord Rack 2 (i think) from their cupboard so they aren't in very efficient use... I saw NL in music technology storage room also! I know a few music-specialized high schools and special schools where they use NS or Electro.

But I think Nord stuff could be great for teaching basics for examples organ drawbar stuff, basic synthesis, sampling and so on. Maybe not for the smallest kids, but from teenagers to elder people? Do you use your reds for teaching and how? Or do you know institutions or people who like to use Nord stuff for educational purposes? I know it's mostly the player's instrument on stage and the price is fairly high for institutes to fund. Also when basics of piano lessons can be mostly classical, people prefer acoustic pianos.

Just curious how people use red stuff other than playing or as traffic lights! And how your kids have "helped you" with playing... The stage's live slots are always surprising when I let the kids play some robot sounds by themselves!
