Velocity / Keyboard Morph -> Delay Send

Postby stereoberater » 04 Mar 2014, 20:53

Hey everyone,

does somebody know why I cannot get a velocity or keyboard morph of the delay send parameter to work (audible), although it is available as a morph destination and the green led lights up?

I expected the send parameter so react to the velocity of the last played note - but I get nothing.
Am I missing something here, or is it simply a bug (or something they forgot to either implement or disable)?

Did this work with older versions of the firmware before they changed that know from delay return to delay send?

I do not have a Wave, but as far as the NS2 is concerned you can only morph with the wheel, control pedal or aftertouch but not velocity. Did you check the manual whether that is supported?

Thanks for your response.
The manual does not specifically mention this case. All I can see is, that it is not specifically excluded. The morph function is explained in general, followed by a table of morph destinations. This table also mentions delay amount as a possible destination.
Also, the Wave does behave like it should be possible and valid: I hold down the velocity morph button and move the delay amount knob up. The green light next to it lights up and the display shows the morph range. When the velocity morph button is released the green led stays lit.
I just do not hear any delay - no matter how strong I play. It just seems to have no effect at all.

The same thing happens with keyboard morph. I can set a morph range on the delay amount, but it does not have any noticeable effect over any range of the keyboard.

I understand that delay, tube amp and reverb are global effects and not per note. But that is why I was curious about it even more. I just fear that morphing the delay amount via velocity is something Clavia did not assume anyone would want to do. And so they kind of forgot to either implement it properly or deactivate it. That is why I am even more interested if that was possible with an earlier firmware than v2.02

I am sorry, but I have to correct myself. The green led next to the delay amount does not stay lit when I release the velocity morph button. But neither does it stay lit after assigning a range to the mod wheel (where morphing does work just as expected). However, once I enter the morph mode again it lights up. So a morph rage has definitely been assigned to it.

Just checked the Wave manual and it seems that you can morph based on velocity and keyboard note number. My wrong assuming that this was like in the NS2 so I learned something new too :)
Sorry I cannot help testing how the morphing of the delay works in the Wave, but hopefully somebody else will help on this.

How do you set a morph with vel? Do you need to press a key at low vel move the dial and then at high vel?

You do not have to play the keyboard to set a velocity morph. There is a velocity morph button. You just hold that button and move any of the assignable knobs on the interface away from its original value. The range between original value and new value will then be distributed between velocity 0 (original value) and velocity 127 (new value).
