Using Nord Sample Library files in the Wave

Post by Wolfo »

Hi all,

I just got my Wave ... And I already have a question!
How can I use the sounds provided on the Nord website in the Wave? I know you have to put them in the Wave using the sound manager application, and then select them in osc2 ... but ... How do I have them to sound like they are ment to? I mean: I also had an Electro 3, in which you simply load files from the library, and you use them as an instrument.
How can I do this with the Wave? (so just play the sample, I don't want to use lfo's or filters or whatever)
I hope this is clear ...
Thanks!

Make sample and sound init (2 buttons top left of NW, with shift button down) then go and test a sample in the osc 2 section.

Be aware that the sample sounds you can hear on the Clavia site use the samples you can download, but potentially use a lot of additional settings (which you don't get when you download the samples). The samples are an additional oscillator sound source, not finished instruments.

Also have a look at the page below, if you haven't already. A lot of good, additional sounds and most of them use the standard samples (if they use samples).

Hi all, thanks for the very informing replies. I get the idea now ... However, I had a sample in my Electro, the Elka Synthex "laser harp" sound (can't remember the name), which sounded totally different from the version in the Wave. But I might get what I want with some tweaking, especially the bass end isn't really ... euhm ... 'bassy' :)

Strange. As far as I know the Wave can do anything (and then some) with samples the Electro 3 can and as such should be able to recreate any (sample-based) sound the Electro 3 can make. Are you sure you don't have a filter affecting your sound?

There are no filters active, I assume. I did the "sample init" ... I'll check somewhere this week, for the moment the front panel is disassembled :)

be aware that the filters are parts of the "sound ", so you need to make a sound init , not only a sample init

Check the index in the manual for which buttons you need to press.

Sample init sets up the synth section so it plays back a sample (without any filtering, etc). Sound init sets up the synth section to produce a basic synth sound, which is a good starting point for creating new noises.
