Drawbar settings suggestion?

Post by Burningkeys »

Hi

Let's make a thread about Hammond drawbar-settings.

Anyone who can share some awsome settings? Maybe someone knows the drawbar-settings of some famous songs. :)

Hallelujah!

Thank you so much for sharing this gigant document with us. :) I have mostly used the synt and pianosections before so this was a great contribution. Thanx! :)

That's a great spreadsheet - very useful!

Here's one of my favourites that I'm using at the moment: Spencer Davis Group - Gimme Some Lovin' . Type: B3. Drawbars: 868884400 Rotor on. Drive set about 3/4. Rotor pedal on fast. Swell pedal on max for full 'growl' effect.

Hi all,

just got my NE 3 last week and working the drawbars to get the right tone.

Can anyone help with "against the wind" from Bob Seger, I cannot quite get it right...

Thx

By the way here's a link to some settings:

688600000 always worked for me.
Much like acoustic pianos, there is a wide difference in the way Hammond organs sound. Once you add the variables of Leslie speaker cabinet choice and miking strategies, it's almost impossible to pin a sound down to a specific drawbar registration.

Cool site, thanks:)

Thanks for the link!

It is the famous A Whiter Shade of Pale (aka AWSoP) Upper B registration.

Thx Hanon, I had 8880000 with C1 and percussion soft, fast on third but 68860000 is closer. Sure is tough to find the right sound with all those different possibilities.

I'm also a big fan of Benmont Tench, here's a great link with the man himself talking drawbar settings on Refugee and other Tom Petty songs:

Wow, what an awesome link, and interview with a music icon like BT.
Thanks for that.

In the videos: I love that little Aeolian Helpinstill Melodipro piano to the left of the A-100. I had one of those as a stage piano in 1978.
And the Hammond A-100, too bad his reverb's broke, the one on my NE3 works great;)
BT quote: "every Hammond's a little different".
