using duel keyboard or my stage 3

Postby scenic studios » 27 Feb 2018, 07:38

I have my NS3 SET UP IN DUEL MODE USING THE B SECTION FOR THE ORGAN SOUND
CONTROLLING IT WITH MY ROLAND A800. I HAVE MY EV 5 EXPRESSION PEDAL PLUGGED IN
TO THE ROLAND BUT CAN'T SEEM TO CONTROL THE VOLUME ON THE B PART WITH THE PEDAL
I'AM USING THE SAME MIDI CHANEL ON THE NS3 AND ROLAND CONTROLLER MIDI cc 11
NO VOLUME CONTROL,
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?
I JUST GOT THE NS3 A WEEK AGO.
ANYBODY :?:

Have you updated the Nord to the latest firmware (1.36)?

If not: please do.

Also, your caps lock key seems broken.

If you want to control the Organ Swell you need to set it to the corresponding CC (on NS2 is CC#4) otherwise you need to create a Morph between CtrlPedal and Organ B Volume

You cannot morph a dual kb section. It's a huge design flaw in the NS3 and one that I hope they deal with in the next firmware update... You could do this and so so so much more on the NS2. Hint hint hint! Update the NS3 to match the NS2 at least and you will have so many more happy customers around the world!

That's a new one I hadn't seen before. With all the questions people have had here about what NS2 features didn't make it to an NS3 (esp. if they are thinking about upgrading), I think it would be nice to have a single thread--not bashing the NS3--but simply listing which NS2 functions are no longer available in the NS3, so people could know whether or not they'd be losing anything essential to them.

Agree. Wish that thread was around 3 weeks ago when I read through the stage 3 manual and thought I had found my perfect keyboard only to find that it went back to the stoneage on 3 of the most critical items for me. I have since sent it back. I’ll wait till Clavia gets their act together and at least matches the stage 2 in midi, audio routing, and ease of patch selection. All the upgrades in the world can’t help if those things are still missing.

I understand the frustrations of those who assumed (not unreasonably, IMO) that in terms of basic functionality, the NS3 would still be able to do all the things the NS2 did. In my own case, while I absolutely see the value of all those features, I'd already sold my NS2 to get a NE5D, because despite all I was losing, my actual use at the time was petty basic, and I really wanted the drawbars, the low E, the OLED interface, and what seemed like a better feeling action. That said, I did run into some frustrating limitations with the Electro, and now I'm looking forward to getting an NS3 that will retain (I hope) everything I preferred about the NE5D, while giving me back most (but not all) of what I miss from the NS2, plus some nice new enhancements.

One thing though, about the weaker patch selection functionality... if you have a smartphone, you can at least pretty much address that with an app.

Good evening!
Are bugs still known for the Dual KB? I just can not get it to work. ( NS3 is on v1.36)
Maybe I'm just too stupid.
As a second keyboard I use a NE5. All Midi settings on the same channel (16).

Midi settings on the NS3:
Global: 1
Panel A: Off
Panel B: Off
Dual KB: 16

If DualKB is activated now, nothing happens. Only if I adjust the channels for the panels, it works. But that's not the meaning behind it, is it?
Also interesting: If I activated Dual KB, I can not activate the organ anymore. Only synth and piano start.
Is that normal?
sorry, I am Nord Stage beginner ...
