Hi folks,
I'd beinterested in knowing how many of you guys have upgraded from NS classic/EX to NS2 or are intending to do so.
What was/is your main motivation?

Hello Patschi,
Here are my motivations:
1. Better Grand pianos "resonance and half pedaling features via triple pedal".
2. Best Organ and rotary speaker sim Nord has to offer.
3. Superior Synth section with sync-able ARP.
4. Uses Nord Library Samples "I previously used my NE3 for these"
5. More memory for piano library, samples, and programs.

I'm in the process of upgrading too. Just ordered the new NS2 today after a long fight with GAS. And now I need to sell the NS 88 ex, which is not easy when you choose to go on local market only (Montreal). I think Patschi has caught the important reasons for the upgrade. My list (in my order of pref):

1- Sample library sounds amazing and provides a wide palette of sounds. I love Mellotrons, Brass and strings will come in handy on covers, and since I do bass lines with the left hand, I finally get real electric bass sounds without having to plug in to a computer.
2- Better synth section including real LFO, Arpeggiator, synth processing on samples
3- With 1 & 2 above plus the piano and organ, I get pretty much all I need in one board, makes life easy for rehearsals, jams, gigs. When I feel like producing wild Electronic stuff, I go software.
4- More mem on piano section.
5- Aux in. No need to carry a mixer when I use the computer for extra sounds (Mainstage in my case)
6- Sync Arps, LFO and delay will ssurely come in handy
7- Ability to sample my own sounds. Again can come in handy in 1 board situations. I can can sample some sounds I'll need for that occasion, or use it for backing tracks.

Hi Patschi.

I upgraded from a Nord Stage Classic Compact to the NS2 SW73.
My reasons were the exact same as Hanon has written, so no need to repeat :)
I like to have everything in one keyboard. And the SW73 is so portable that I can bring it along in bus/train. I don't really need anything else. And of course it sounds awesome ;)

Have fun.

My reasons for a upgrade to the NS2 73 are pretty much yours Santa.

I alkso like the possibility of sampling my own sounds, including for some weird sound effects e.g., for intros.
But what do you mean by backing tracks? Would that be actually possible with the User Samples?? How would you do that?
My though was record say one bar of beat and have maximum release on the AEG and set the smallest split possible to trigger the beat, or how did you plan of doing that?
I guess loading a full 3min backing track is not really feasible or is it?
