Stage 3 Control Pedal Morphing Problem

Postby marvintheandroid » 30 Jan 2018, 14:14

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone else had experienced this. There a couple of songs I play live where I have to switch quickly from for example piano to strings without the time to lift my hands from the keyboard. So I thought I’d setup a Program with Piano and Strings in the same panel and then use the Control to Morph the volumes from ‘Off to 0db’ on the Strings whilst adjusting the Piano from 0db to Off.

This appeared to work fine when I set it up but when I come back to the saved Program from another Program I get Piano and Strings layered unless I operate the Control Pedal from 0 to 100% and back again before I start to play.

Has anyone else tried/experienced this and do we think it is a bug that Nord should rectify?

Dave

Hi Dave,

maybe you have set the volume in your programm on both Sections to 0dB / 100%. Try changing the volume of the strings to Off, then store it again.
The next time you will select this programm everything should work fine with the strings silent and only the piano playing.

Hi Dave - this is the first time I've heard of this issue and I frequently use pedal morphs to do what you describe.

Here's how it should work: If you have the pedal set at 100% on Program A and switch to Program B, the pedal for Program B will be 100%. If you move the pedal to 50% on Program B and switch back to Program A, them Program A will be at 50%. The same goes for the wheel.

If you do not touch the pedal in Program B, leave it at 100%, then switch back to Program A and the pedal is at less than 100%, then I would suspect that your pedal or pedal cable is the issue. Is there a different pedal or cable you can try?

Thanks guys. I’ll have another go at editing the Morphing in the Programs

The control pedal position value is not saved in the program. the program will always respond to the pedals current state. I've setup my patches to have the "A" volume at 100% and the "B" at 0% similar to what you are doing. I've become disciplined to always set my pedal to 0/Off/all the way down for each sound. I'm cool with this behavior. I learned key on an organ so I am comfortable with always have my feet on pedal (ctrl, vol, or exp).

I've worked with other synths that would save the pedal position when a patch is recalled. This would cause issues when doing a live show because if the pedal was at 100% and I slightly touch it, the patch would respond and sometimes make rather abrupt changes in my sound.

That’s also helpful bartley99. I am more of a pianist but I after the others made suggestions I revisited the programs I had created and now I have read your comments it’s all starting to make sense. I obviously need to get used to resetting my control pedal to the 0 position after use.
