New Stage 3 compact 73 and have found that the LED for "Legato" (in
the Synth section) does not light up. The screen will show that that Legato
is engaged and the effect is sounding, but the LED does not light up.
Is this a software bug? or a hardware issue?
Thanks for your help as this will inform me whether i need to send this unit back for another one or just wait for a software update....

Check with your dealer; it could be a minor hardware issue.

I did write to Nord support about it and it's been four days with no reply... not the ideal "support" for such an expensive unit!

Erm... Is this the same unit that's in your other thread; 'Stage 3 compact build quality issues' where it appears that your NS3C may have suffered quite a knock when being delivered to you...?
If this is indeed the same machine, then perhaps it's not Nord's fault at all which would then suggest to me that contacting Nord support was perhaps not the ideal first step...
I'd've thought that contacting your dealer and/or their courier company should've been your first option.
If these two threads are about two different machines then, of course, I apologise

The support email goes, as far as I know, to your distributor. It says "After you have submitted your support request, it will be sent to our distributor in your country." -- and even if Nord gets a copy, your distributor would be first in line to answer (if I have understood the setup correctly).
So as I suggested above, talk to your dealer. Did you buy the unit from a store, or second-hand?
And as @Hobster says, if this is the unit that has taken a beating, there may be a good reason why it doesn't work fully as expected.
