Stage 2 76 key action same as Stage 2 88?
My first time around with a Stage classic I played the 88 at a local store then ordered the 76 online. When I got the 76 the action felt completely different to me. I would like to upgrade to a Stage 2 but if the action isn't the same on the 76 as the 88 I guess I'll just get the 88. Can anyone confirm that the Stage 2 76/88 key action is exactly the same? Thanks.

I'm fairly confident they have the exact same type of keyboard (Fatar TP/40). This is Fatar's current top-of-the-line weighted keybed that's also used in the Nord Piano (that one doesn't have aftertouch though).
Maybe someone who is sure about this can confirm this.
You could also contact the distributor in the US (you're from the US, right?) and ask them about this. You might want to ask by name for their Nord expert (Pablo Mastodon). If you search this section of the forum, you'll probably find his direct contact details. He might also read your post, but try calling him if you don't want to wait for that.
For people not in the US: please don't contact American Music & Sound or Pablo, but contact the distributor for your region (see the link Distributors at the top-right of the Nord website) or contact Nord directly via the Support section on their website.

Not sure either. Fatar however have two versions of the TP/40 - one of them with wood TP/40WOOD, which I'd recon is the most expensive one. I did try the key action on both a 76 and a Stage Piano today in the shop. The action was exactly the same - I wasn't quite sure at first, but one of the keyboards were mounted with a rather steep tilt.. so I had to try several times before making my mind up.
Hey! My first post!.. heh..

Well I went to go play it again & all they had was the 73 & a NP2. Is Stage 2 the same action as the NP2? Thinking about getting the 73 & a Yamaha P155 for the bottom, though. Might be more versatile.

To the OP, next time you try a board at the local store, perhaps I can suggest you buy it there as well, instead of ordering it online. Not only is it a more ethical way to do business, but I would bet that if you had bought your 76 locally and were not happy with it, they would have gladly taken it back and exchange it for the 88 or another board.
When you buy your next board, you should ask your dealer to let you try the actual unit that you are about to buy. That way, there won't be any disappointment.

My best memories are those I can't remember

Same action, but the NP2 doesn't have aftertouch.KarlSutton wrote:Is Stage 2 the same action as the NP2?

From the website on the keyboard types (was wondering the same thing when I ran across this):
Three Models
The Stage 2 comes in three models: The Stage 2 HA88 and Stage 2 HA76 feature our new top-of-the-line fully weighted Hammer Action keyboard. The Stage 2 SW73 features a 73-note Semi Weighted Waterfall keyboard. Apart from the keyboard type and the number of accessories available, all three models have identical features.

Re-visiting this old thread - now that it's been out a while do we know for certain the Stage 2 76 has the same keybed as the 88?
