Hello there Nord forum,
I feel such a newbie, silly and stupid. I am having trouble organizing a very simple split; Organ on the lower half of the keyboard, and piano on the upper half. IT SEEMS LIKE IT SHOULD BE SO SIMPLE!! I read the manual, multiple times, tried following the instructions to the tee, and still can't get it to work.
If there are videos demonstrating step by step instructions, that would be huge. Or if someone can point out some simple troubleshooting, tips and tricks, that would be greatly appreciated! I have to think I'm missing some very simple but fundamental steps.
Thanks
Tom

@Tom: I suppose, you've got a Nord Stage 2 or Nord Stage 2 EX, since you consider yourself a newbie with the instrument and posted in the Nord Stage specific forum. It might be good if you safe the information, which gear you got, with your profile here on the forum (login, then click on "UCP > profile > Your Nord Gear #1:").
Derived from the NS2EX manual: How to Create a Split
1) Make sure that only Slot A is active (red LED).
2) Press Shift + Program Bank C (= Piano Init). This activates the Piano and sets all the effects to be routed to the Piano as well. Using an Init is a great way to quickly get a foundation when you want to create a program.
3) Press the "KBD Zones 2" button, located above the Value Dial. This divides the keyboard into two zones, with the split indicated with a green LED that lights up above the keyboard.
4) Set the Piano to the Upper zone by holding Shift and pressing the Piano Zone Select button (= the On/Off button of the Piano Section) repeatedly until the UP and HI LEDs are lit and the LO LED is off. This assigns the Piano to the upper zone of the keyboard. Feel free to use the Octave Shift buttons if you want to
transpose the piano.
5) Now activate the Organ Section by pressing the On/Off button so that the three green LEDs are lit.
6) To set the Organ to the Lower zone: Hold Shift and press the Organ Zone Select button until the LO LED is lit and the others are off. This will activate the organ and assign it to the lower half of the keyboard.
7) Hold Shift and press repeatedly on the "Set Lo Split" button (=the KB ZONES 2 button) to move the split point on the keyboard.
This should be it. If, on the other hand, you've got an Electro older than version 5, a split can only be created via nord Sample Editor. In that case, you could search the forum entries for a solution, but I doubt it would work well with organ an piano...
Nord Lead has other options again...

Thanks! I'm not a mind reader either... I have a Stage 2 EX HP76
It worked, but a few tweaks needed;
1. The Leslie sim no longer working on the lower 1/2 organ, how to fix that? It might be the Organ patch I'm using
2. How to save this split?
3. How to recall the split quickly?
4. Octave shift on the organ - only goes up 1-2 octaves. If playing higher register organ with the left hand, need to bring up 3-4 octaves. How to do that?
By they way - did I mention that you guys are awesome?

1. Turn the rotary effect on (on the very left side of the keyboard)
2. Use the "Store" button (or Shift+Store if you want to rename the program).
3. Recall the stored program with the Split. (Maybe it would be an option to use the 5 programs from the "live mode".)
4. Register the organ sound correctly: If you need e.g. a higher B3 Organ sound for chords/comping, do not use the 16' and 8' drawbar. This should always be sufficient in addition to the +2 Octave Shift.

Re: Splitting sounds - upper v. lower
I'm a newbie to the Stage 2 EX. I can split the keyboard into two zones having chosen, for example by choosing program Jazz Bass, then splitting into 2 zones, then setting the synth (Jazz Bass) to the lower zone, but then if I want the classical piano program A:1:1 on the upper zone, how do I do this? I can get the piano on the upper zone, but how do I get that particular piano on the upper zone? Thank you for any help.
