I'm really considering a Pelican for when I get my Stage 2. But I'm curious to know how you cope with the lack of side handles. it seems like having only end handles would make it a pain to lug around by yourself if you can't roll it. Especially up stairs, where it seems like you'd have to give it an awkward bear hug or something
What has your experience been?

Re: So if you need a case for your Stage 2...
tbh i haven't had a chance to gig yet, but the size and lack of handles are definitely going to prove interesting. I was considering getting some of those spring-loaded heavy-duty handles and attaching the to the side with copius amounts of silicone (and probably small machine screws and t-nuts) to maintain the waterproofness.
Also, this is one heavy-ass case, it weighs more than the nord inside it.
Another ding against it is that it can't stand on its side, as you would do if it had a side handle, which is kind of annoying from a storage perspective. I could probably glue some blocking on the side to support it opposite the hinge, but again more modifications to an expensive case.
One thing is for sure though, if a nuke hits washington DC the two things to survive would be cockroaches and my nord..

Re: So if you need a case for your Stage 2...
So, I've ordered the palican 1770 case. It is much cheaper in the states, but with delivery (to Germany) taxes and so on, It's too expensive. I can't afford. Therefore I ordered the case in a german store. Regular origin price is 777,01 €!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've ordered it for 470,- €. I know still a lot but it's worth. And for lifetime with full warranty! A maybe in case of nuc impacts I can use it as a shelter
Greetings to bdodds

Re: So if you need a case for your Stage 2...
just so long as you're ok with the drawbacks listed above - no standing on its side, only laying flat or on-end, handles on the ends and nothing in the middle, etc. the wheels are better than any SKB i've owned and it rolls great, so if you don't mind dragging it's tops. Make sure you can live with that first, though, it's a lot of cash to drop on a case.

Hi bdodds,
Thanks for your answer. I ordered yesterday, anyway, I took the bigger 1770 because the case is for lifetime and even for a 88. At the moment I have a 76 but nobody knows.
Thanks
Helmuth

Re: So if you need a case for your Stage 2...
I was going to buy the pelican case 1750, that fits the NS2 compact very well, but I just found that SKB has some similar products now. They made some "copies" of the pelican cases, and is 3 lbs less.
Has anyone bought one of those already?
take a look:

Re: So if you need a case for your Stage 2...
I intend to buy this case: http://www.skbcases.com/industrial/prod ... id=366&s=p
for the 88 version. It is even lighter and also a little bigger than other skb or peli cases.
You´ll probably find a similar case from the low profile skb cases that maches your needs.
Downside: It has no military standard. But lets face it: You´r not going to drop it into a river or drag it throw a dust factory.
But also it probably will be a little less expensive. (is this sentence correct?)
If you buy the skb case please post a few pictures!!!
Thanks!

Re: So if you need a case for your Stage 2...
The SKB ATA cases have awful wheels though. They cost $2 a set, and it shows. If you regularly roll through airports, railway stations or in the street, they'll wear very quickly. You'll be able to get spare ones for free, but it's still a hassle to replace them every time.

Re: So if you need a case for your Stage 2...
The best price for Pelican in the states is nalpak.com. the 1700 fits the Wave with the original shipping foam. the 1750 fits the NS73 & NS273 with modifications to the original shipping foam(NS2 foam is much thicker than NS) Hope you saved your box!
My cases have a handle opposite the wheels and another opposite the hinges. They also stand up when you set them down like a guitar case.

I've ordered this case
http://www.thomann.de/be/thon_keyboard_ ... unstst.htm
I think it's a good robust case for the NS2
