Folks,

I just got a Nord Piano with the triple pedal. I'm using with another keyboard so I don't have room on the floor for the triple pedal along with all the other pedals I need. (I also like to have both sustains side by side so I can catch both with one foot) All my other gear to date is Yamaha and I discovered the Yamaha FC3 can't be used with the Nord as it's a variable resistor type sustain, so I bought another sustain pedal.

I thought I'd have to suck it up and lose the pedal noise, but then I took apart the (cheap) pedal I bought from eBay and check it out:

There's two sensors in pedal! This is like the triple pedal except the top sensor is used for the push to break style and the bottom sensor is used for push to make.

Assuming there's some travel between the top sensor switch opening and the bottom sensor switch closing, I think it's possible to trick my Nord Piano into thinking this is a triple pedal.

It would be a slightly different circuit to the triple pedal as one is push to break and one is push to make. Thoughts?

I'll be experimenting later today or tomorrow and I'll report back. Worst case, I've ruined a £12.50 sustain pedal.

Actually, the FC3 can be used with a Nord Stage 2, so I assume I t can also be used with the piano. There may be a parameter you set to accept the FC3.

The Korg DS1H seems to enable the pedal noise. I've never looked into why, but have used them for a couple years now.

You mean that Korg DS1H really works with Nord? Half pedal and pedal noise..?

I use the Korg DS1H with the Stage 3 and yes, it does trigger the pedal noise. I've heard that there is less control over the volume of the noise, but it does work.
