Output Routing

Postby phil59 » 09 Sep 2017, 08:48

Hello all
Maybe i change my StageScape Line6 MD20 to a QSC TouchMix16. (because of the screen problem of the Stagescape...)
On the Touchmix mixer, i find 2 stéréo TRS input.
How connect the Nordstage2 to this input ?
Need this cable ? http://www.michenaud.com/p34857/cable-b ... fy6vpp.php
Or routing in the Menu System of the Nordstage the sound to ch 3 ou ch4 and use a stéréo TRS ??
Or is it better to use ch1 AND ch 2 output in NS2 and connect to 2 mono input of the mixer ?
Thank you for your help ?
Best regards Philippe

The last. I will always suggest to use mono jack cables from output 1&2 (and/or 3&4 if you need it) and panning right/left for each channel on the mixer.
I dont know what happening when you are using TSR plugs in the Nords output, but the times by accident I have used TRS cables, there are some kind of phase cancellation going on, with weak output and poor sound as a result.
Also a couple of this issue around here in the forum.

If you have a tablet, might I suggest the Behringer X Air XR18, its a great little mixer for half the price of the QSC.

In theory it is the same. The "stereo" channel should be equivalent to the 2 channels fully panned L and R and equal gains. One issue might be that the stereo channel might have a difference attenuation/impedance than the single channels, but if you try and it works, IMHO then the stereo channel might be also convenient as you do not worry about pan and relative L and R gains.
What Bjosko mentions and has been reported here, might be because of a badly designed/cheap stereo adaptor for headphones where the signals get summed.
If you use a direct injection box then you will use 2 separate channels anyway as they have XLR connectors.
