Re: NS3 synth vs Nord Lead A1
The most substantial differences I'm aware of:
A1 advantages:
...A1 lets you split/layer 4 synth sounds, vs. 2 on the NS3
...A1 lets you morph based on velocity, NS3 does not
NS3 advantages:
...NS3 lets you process samples through the synth functions while the A1 does not (these include sounds from Nord's sample library, the built-in S-wave waveforms, and your own custom samples)
...NS3 has aftertouch
...NS3 has more polyphony (34 vs 26)
...NS3 has more effects available
The interface is a bit different, with the NS3 having the OLED display.
IIRC, each has one filter option the other does not, and the A1 has wider pitch bend range. I'm not sure whether the oscillator selection is entirely identical (beyond what I mentioned about the A1 not having sample sources)
Maybe someone else will chime in with additional detail...

Re: NS3 synth vs Nord Lead A1
Another one (A1) might be the Ensemble effect (emulating old analog string machines).
NE5D, NLA1, BS2, Boog, TX81Z, JV-1080, A33, AX-Synth, PC3K6, M350, BeatstepP. etc.
