Everything is there, but:

It would have been nice if there was more sample memory in the synth section.
I'd hate to find out two years from now that there's a nord stage 2 EX with 760 mb of sample memory.
It's just that there are so many terrific samples on nord's library - plus the ones i want to import myself, and not enough room for everything...

Interesting thread. And I didnt realize that rotary speed over sustain pedal was not possible at the NS2??!! Hopefully a OS update can provide this sometimes useful option!
Besides, personally my dream stage would on top of what the NS2
* a simple one-track sequencer to record ideas (but I guess thats never happen given Nords philosophy)
* Audio over USB (now more common)
* XLR balanced outputs
But this seems all not likely to be integrated by Nord as they are more workstationish features (Even though Kawai/Roland/Yamaha raised the bar for stagepianos with their recent MP10/RD700NX/CP-1/5 including some or all of these features. Maybe for a NP2??

But in real life, the pedal issue is indeed important. +1 on having a smaller sustain pedal that does half-pedalling and pedal noises!! The Nord Pedal is nice but a bit too bulky for travelling. Maybe they gonna release one this year? Or at least open the specs so third party pedals can work, too.
Anyhow, thomann.de now says the NS2 is available March 2nd, will see when I get the confirmation of my order...Excited!

There are three missing features I'd like to see on the NS2...

... morph by velocity (the Nord Wave has this)

... chord memory on the synth section (the Nord Wave also has this)

... the ability to set mono synth sounds to your choice of top note priority, bottom note priority, or last note priority

Page 42 of the manual talks about sustain pedal to control rotor speed. Are you sure you can't use a sustain pedal to control rotor? To me looks like you can.Now what about the dedicated eq for the synth? That's gone on the ns2.

Welcome to the forum Goldphinga :)

I think you are misunderstanding. Yes you can use a sustainpedal to control the rotor speed, but you have to plug it in the rotor pedal socket on the keyboard. We are talking about using the sustain pedal plugged in the sustain pedal socket to also control the rotor speed. So instead of using two seperate sustain pedals, you only need one to control both sustain and rotor speed. This feature is available on the Stage classic/EX and Electro.

Yes it's too bad that the dedicated EQ is missing in the synthsection. However, I think it was a good choice, so they could make room for other things, like an arpeggiator.
There's still the option of using the EQ from the effectsection on the synth. But I can see, that could be a problem if you want to use that for other things.

Regarding the sample memory size - i understood that the nord sample manager enables you to compress your samples without loosing too much quality.
Does anyone know how much it compresses the samples?

If, for example, i map 30 beat loops on the keyboard - 1 mb each - how much will it be after being compressed by the sample manager?

Good to be here! Well where is the info that says the sustain pedal can't be used in the sustain socket for changing rotor speed? Has this come from an official source? I would be surprised if it had been left off. I'm definitely not misunderstanding! ;)

Nord states that the compression (lossless) is around one third of the original size (which is in line with e.g. the flac format).
So your sample would probably take 1MB*30/3=10MB. But you could try it out using the Nord Sample Manager yourself.
But 1 MB is already quite a long beat loop no?

Okay. I'm sorry that I misunderstood, that you misunderstood me :)

It's not so much about, where it says you can't do it, it's more about, where does it say you can do it? If you look at page 42-43 in the manuel(as you pointed out). There is a list of what configurations you can do in the System menu. None of these are an option to change if the sustainpedal should control the rotor speed or not (in addition to sustain). In comparison, there is listed a similar option to change if the controlpedal should control the organ swell or not (in addition to control/morph).
Now this could have been a mistake, that they forgot to include that in the manual (I suspected that at first). However Bistikas wrote this ealier in this very thread:
Bistikas wrote:I emailed them about the sustain pedal rotor thing and they said they would put it on a request list for an OS update fix.

So it seems Clavia might had forgotten about this, but atleast they will fix it eventually.

Depends. 2 bars take about 0.5mb - 1mb. 4 bars take about 1.5mb - 2mb, depending if the loop is just beat or if it has a bass line going on in addition.

This means that if i make room for 100mb, i could stuff about 250-300 loops inside, which is more than enough.
