Hi, I also experienced the same when trying to port my NSC pad patches to my new NS2 and was a bit frustrated in the beginning.
But then I recalled what I did with NSC, i.e. how many interesting "hidden" pad sound I had found just by exploring the presets and turning on the synth section in programs where it was off, particularly piano and e.piano programs.... so I did the same on NS2 and found some nice pads to start from.
As an example, on factory program A13.5 "The Duke" there is a nice pad in the synth section of slot A and.... On slot B there is the synth Lead of Billy Cobham's Stratus!! (of course, I should know it, given the program's name!)
Other solution I am going to experiment: get the samples of some famous pad sounds (or generate them using a VST) and work with them in the NS2 synth section
My conclusion: the NS2 section is just different from the NSC so while in some cases the 1:1 porting is possible, in general it is much better to try to understand it and work with it, taking advantage of the many new features it brings (for pads, for example, applying PWM by modulating the oscillator Shape of a saw or square wave using the LFO, something not possible on the NS, etc..)
PS: about the lack of 1/3 and 2/3 filter KBD tracking, a possible workaround would be to sample a waveform, e.g. A sawtooth, progressively pre-filtered across octaves; not the same as the original of course, but I think it may work...
