NS2-88 key spring clicking?
Hey all,
Just got my NS2 in the mail last week. Great keyboard. I have been playing it mostly with headphones. But, yesterday I was messing around with it off and I noticed that the B below middle C makes a strange clicking noise. If you push the key down, it clicks, and then it clicks when you release.
I know Nord actions aren't known for being quiet. And it doesn't seem to affect the key action. Still, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue with a weighted Nord action.
Thanks!

Re: NS2-88 key spring clicking?
Thanks frantzkb. I think the keyboard mentioned there is the 73 semiweighted. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced something like that from the 88 weighted action. If yours is silent, mine probably has some kind of defect. Hopefully I can get more information to know if I should send it back. It was several months' wait to get this one, and I don't want to return it unless I absolutely have to.

Re: NS2-88 key spring clicking?
I've got the same on my Nord Stage 2 compact and also on my NS2-88.
I've just fixed them this morning (and it took 30 minutes) - just take the keyboard apart:
1) Undo 3 screws in each of the end cheeks
2) Undo the single screw on the bottom that looks bigger than the others (in the middle)
3) Undo the screws along the back that hold the red part onto the black part.
Then lift off all the red parts and undo the two ribbon cables that hold it together (easy as there's plenty of length).
Now find the key that's clicking and turn the spring at the back of it with your finger until the clicking stops.
Once done - check all the other keys (as you've got it open anyway!) then re-assemble in reverse order.
Hope that helps and overcomes the nervousness of taking it apart!
Cheers,
Rob.

Re: NS2-88 key spring clicking?
Thanks, Rob. Might have to give this a shot. I got a very nice email back from Nord tech support saying that it won't hurt the keyboard, but I'll have to live with it unless I want to pay to ship it across the country for repairs.
Does anyone know if opening the case is ok, or does it void the warranty? Seems like a simple fix but I'd hate to break some no-tamper tab.

Hardwareproblem; Noise klavierboard
Hi all,
My Nordstage 76 klavier produces irritating mechanical klicks at some notes of the klavierboard. When you play with
headphones you wouldn't notice afcourse but when I play some quite piano on my monitorspeakers I hear some mechanical klick when i let go some
certain keynotes.
I put all the volume to zero and noticed three tones that made this klicks ( in two in the upper and one in the lower zone).
I'll find it most irritating because now I hear it every time. I own the stage 2 weeks now so I'll first buy a gigbag and bring it back for repair.
For the price I expect a perfect instrument. I'll hope they'll fixe it. (sold all of my old gear to buy this stage)
Anyone recognize this hardwareproblem?
Thanks in advance

Oops. didn't have read this thread.
Still, I think a keyboard has to be perfect.
Is it wise to repair it as Gringle mentioned?

I agree.
With the amount of $ that the NS2 costs, it should not have any annoying artifact, and the majority don't.
However, when it's yours that has the issue, it doesn't really matter about the 100 other units that don't have issues.
As to the question of it being wise to attempt a repair on your own:
Once you open the chassis of the instrument, all warranty is null and void.
How confident are you in your technical skills?
What is your proximity to the closest authorized Nord service center?

Re: NS2-88 key spring clicking?
Hello Hanon,
I think I first go to the store and ask advice.
My warranty is important for this piece of gear.
Thanks for the reply!
