That could be a huge deal breaker for me if so. My setup has a Roland FC-300 for changing programs on my Korg SV-1 and in Mainstage. I assumed that the Nord could be integrated into this setup with no problem.

You can send absolute Program Changes (indicatong the exact program you want to select) but there is no MIDI CC to send a "Program up/down" which is a relative command (go to 1 Program up/down from the current one).

So, unless the pedalboard has some logic to handle the relative increment/decrement of the Program Changes generated by itself, you can't replace the function of the up/down double switch.

But also the SV1 can't handle program up/down so the NS3 in your setup should work just "as usual".

Ah yes, I wasn't thinking. Even though the FC-300 is sending out all CC messages I have Mainstage converting those messages to program changes going to the SV-1 from an external instrument channel strip. As you said, it should work the same with the NS3, but it's still sending direct program change messages instead of the "up/down" scheme.

@Irrequieto: is polarity set the same for both switches? Are you using a TRS (stereo) cable?

Interesting! Are you willing to share the Arduino project?

Definitely. But actually (as said) I am entirely reconstructing it to fit the needs of my (first Nord) Stage 3.

That includes adding another expression pedal (for organ swell) as well as the program up/down foot momentary buttons.
I expect all parts (like a bigger carbon base plate, the pedal, a new Arduino Micro, ...) to arrive by the beginning of next week.
Then it might take another two weeks for me to build and program everything as planned.

After that I planned to provide a detailed description of the hardware and software anyway (if hopefully you got so much patience ;) )
Sadly, I have four weeks :wtf: for getting ready, until the Stage arrives 8-)

Re: Nord Stage 3 pedal program up/down

I'm trying to use a Boss FS-6 Dual Foot Switch to control program changes on my new Stage 3 Compact (OS v1.26) and its working okay, but I'd like to reverse the function of the two pedals.

Right now, pedal A (on the left) is NEXT and pedal B (on the right) is PREVIOUS. That might make sense to someone, but to my mind, that's backwards.

I'm connecting the pedal to the board with a TRS cable, and I've experimented with switches on the pedal and the Program Pedal Type settings in the System Menu of the keyboard, all with no luck.

I'm especially puzzled that the Program Pedal Type setting is having no effect, because it appears it should do so:

9 - PROG PEDAL
TYPE
This setting is used for setting the polarity of a momentary two-button pedal attached to the PROG PEDAL jack. When operated the two buttons will change to the next program up or down in the program bank, respectively. If the buttons of the pedal should have their functionality reversed - the “up” button changing to “down” and vice versa - this setting will come in handy.
Range: Open, Closed, Auto (default)

That's taken from the latest edition of the user manual. Shouldn't that setting do what I have described wanting to accomplish?

I understand that there are workarounds to achieve what I'm trying to do with cables or adapters or whatever, but it's irking me that the description I quoted above makes it seem like this setting is designed to do exactly what I want to do.

Am I missing something? Misunderstanding that setting? Or is it a bug that needs to be reported?

Irrequieto, did you ever get your Boss FS-6 to work satisfactorily for you? If so, is it also working with pedal A as NEXT and pedal B as PREVIOUS?

Hi
I do not have an pedal, but I am guessing that you are using an TSR to TSR cable ?
If you are handy with a soldering iron, you can rewire one end of the cable, or using two TS into one TSR plug. On the last one, you can switch around the two cables between A an B input on the pedal so it are working the correct way for you.

I use the Boss FS7 and it works fine. I can turn the direction the way I want! The only problem is, that every time I‘ve rebooted the nord stage 3, the pedal turns programs to the wrong direction at first push and after that it works usual. Any suggestions? I‘ve tried all possible configurations.
