The ventilator is too expensive, I have to buy it imported, which makes it more expensieve, and I'm not planning to buy another keyboard for the next 10 years. But a free update would be apreciated.

Already have the Neo Ventilator, but you need to buy an reverb module because you will no longer be able to use the NS2 reverb...the reverb must be after the leslie effect not before...I bought myself a lexicon mx300 for my Neo....but I use the Neo with my xk3c....my NS2 is much better (for me) than my xk3c.

Regards,

Actually, on those Hammond organs that had reverb, the reverb was before the Leslie effect. If you are listening to a real Leslie, that's the only way to do it. But reverb could be added after the Leslie if the leslie were mic'd up (though that also means that people would no longer be hearing the organ directly from the Leslie).

122RVs and 147RVs had the reverb on the leslie as a dry sound with stationary speakers. Not many people used it though. No hammonds apart from the A100 series had onboard reverb and this sounded shyte when put through a leslie.

Personally, I'd look at Solton/Sharma cabinets and run the organ through that, rather than spaffing a fortune on an effects pedal.

Hi Uwe

I am sorry, but such an update to the Nord Stage 2 is not possible. These organ related things will not "fit" in the hardware, together with all the other things that are present in the NS2.

Best regards,

too bad. but otherwise we enjoyed a very good support in my opinion.

Makes me wonder exactly what kind of upgrade that is not possible.

I've never seen anyone wire the reverb amp signal on an A-100 through a leslie - everyone takes off the G-G terminals, no?

I have an A100 and I replaced the Hammond reverb with a Trek one, and this is sent through the Leslie.
It sounds AMAZING - I use the Leslie on 'stop' most of the time - I play Jazz so this is my preferred tone.

ok that makes sense, yeah.. there will inevitably be things we can do to hot rod our organs that will not be a possibly signal routing path on the stage 2 (or c2d, or whatever).. i would consider 'adding reverb to a leslie' on the more uncommon applications, maybe slightly lower than unplugging the bottom rotor..

The RV leslies have a separate amp and speakers for the reverb.

Personally, as a jazzer, I liked the HR40 cab (try and get one of those) - not a PR40.

I never got around to it, but I really wanted to wire up the bass drawbar to go "all the way down". Tom Coster's Santana Organ had this done. I had a BC which did this and it was really really fat.

I used to swap the tubes around for a similar effect. I had a set of [] ones which were tight and loud and some {} ones which were more warm and mellow....interesting science behind how the electrons flow and how this influences the sound/distortion. I very much recommend buying every ECC82a/83 12AX7 tube you can find and trying them all in the leslie. All of them sounded hugely different and I had one which was epic. I suspect it was on it's way out..

I was convinced that the old 6 pin valve leslies were not the way to go and I think the Sharma/Pro Line Leslies and effects are the way to go. It's like the Nord, you have a magic box to make the noise, so get something HIFI and use effects.

I would never own another hammond (at the current prices) purely because they don't offer value for money. I do love them, but I rarely gigged mine and it took up a huge amount of space.....I can pretty much get the same sound with the Nord, give or take a bit.....also, if I want overdrive, it's a knob, rather than having to wind it up so that the whole area can hear it!

Forget all this "upgrade" nonsense, I'd look at leslie clones which are very well priced and get something which really does the deal. I have other things more pressing at the moment, but I'm going to get either a Solton or a Sharma Cab, alter it so the rotors counter-rotate and whack a video up.

I wouldn't buy a Ventilator out of principle. They are pretty much valve leslie (in the real world, not ebay) prices.

If you don't gig, or if you gig with a van (and preferably roadies), I could see people saying that they might as well buy a used Leslie. Heck, for the price of a Nord C2D, you might find a pretty decent C3 and leslie. It's just not always the most practical choice.

I'm not familiar with them. Are they cheaper than the Vent?
