Nord Stage 2 'Load Sound' knob problem

Postby brianr19 » 13 Sep 2017, 19:01

The load sound knob of the synth section has a mind of it's own. It only changes sounds when it wants to. How can I fix this, and if I can't, what is the keyboard worth with this problem on the Canadian market?

The likeliest cause is a failing knob and it needs to be replaced. If the only problem is the knob's digital encoder, the cost to fix is about C$10 for the encoder + labour, so maybe C$110 total.

This hardly devalues your board at all: NS2 HA88 selling for C$3500 on Google Shopping.

Thanks for the information! Where and how do I get this fixed as I am from Canada? Shipping to Nord of Sweden would be outrageous I would imagine. Also, is there is a way I can buy the part and fix it myself using a tutorial video?

The best bet is to contact Service for North America at:
pablo.mastodon@americanmusicandsound.com
800-994-4984 x3030
He can put you in contact with your nearest authorized service center. I believe he's located in Florida though, so he might be offline for a while.

To do it yourself, you need to buy part from Syntaur or an Electronics distributor (e.g., DigiKey or Mouser). If you lack electronics repair experience, I don't recommend trying this. The Syntaur site shows two parts, so you would need to open your Nord to confirm the part number first.

Hey Brian,

What did you end up doing? I'm having the same issue. My local L&M doesnt do repairs so I'll likely have to do it myself...
