Hi there,
I have just bought a nord stage piano and was wondering what would be the best way to amplify it? possibly using speakers that could serve as PA speakers for home rehearsals? not too expensive as the nord has me eating porridge for the next while!
Cheers, N

The Stage sounds just great through studio monitors. As for 'PA speakers', how loud do you need it to be for home rehearsals? Do you accompany a single vocalist or guitars, bass and drums?
Personally, I use Mackie HR624s II when I'm playing at home. IMO, as long as you DON'T get a 2.1 system, any half decent studio monitor will be fine. For live use in smaller venues and for practise with bands, I now use an FBT Vertus system which I far prefer the sound of to any typical 10/12" monitor set up.

I use a pair of Yamaha MSR400 active speakers and they truly duplicate the source! Lovely clear sound.

Bag End MM-8s on top powered by Hafler with Bag End powered 18" sub in studio; Bag End TA-2000s on top and S-18s on bottom all powered by QSC PLX2 1804 for gigs (and if needed TA-1200s powered by QSC PLX2 1104 for monitor wedges)

Re: new nord stage
New here,first post.Had a Stage EX88 now for three years.I'm keeping it.
I use stereo piano pair 1&2 outputs to a pair of powered wedges, via Berhinger/Midas preamps.Even my lowly Yorkville NX520P's sound fine this way.
I send synth out channel 3 to an SWR Pro200/4X10" cab for 'Lefty Bass'. A/B switch can route the synth back to the wedges if a lead or pad is needed.
I send organ out channel 4 to a stock Leslie 147 via the A100 Hammond RCA jack input on the 'doghouse'.When the A100 isn't there?ART Tube MIcPreamp
to the Leslie.....the Nord is alright,it'll do......I use a Ventilator for a sim,the one on my EX sucks big time.147 rules.A100 rules.
A/B switch so I can use the Farfisa to a non-Leslie source like the SWR.
It's all good.

Re: new nord stage
I use Yamaha HS80 M monitors, which are purpose built for mixing albums and have a lot of kick for studio playing! They're very good value considering the quality they output.
Around $750AUD for the pair (would likely be much cheaper in EU and US).

Hi Kayj_prod. I'm looking for a good quality PA system at the mo. I play and sing background and lively stuff. I've never been happy with the speakers I've used in the past, especially for piano sounds. I see you use the Vertus 604a/ 802a system. In your experience with it, do the Nord pianos sound good, and have you heard vocals through it? I'd prefer a sub and top system because I play a lot of left hand bass on the piano; boogie/ blues styles.
Thanks in advance!
