My modulation wheel no longer has any effect. I'm fairly certain it's a hardware issue as the feel of the motion is 'rough' over the first 20 or so degrees. Before bringing it back to the distributor for service, can anyone suggest anything I should do to make sure that it hasn't been accidentally disabled in some system menu that I don't recall having modified?

I think your own diagnosis is probably correct. If the wheel doesn’t move freely, that pot likely needs replacing.

Thanks. I'd just feel really stupid if I went to the trouble to send it back and found out that I had accidentally disabled it in system settings...

Pablo will probably check in later and read your post. I'd wait for him to respond. How old is your Nord? I don't think the wheel pot fails often.

Just under a year.
Treated well. Always immobilized in a very padded case or a hard one.
