I use MainStage 3 with my Nord but I am also using two keyboards. The Nord does not have an audio input as some other keyboards have, nor does it then have a separate volume control for that input. It does have a monitor input, however that is only heard when using the headphone jack. If you want to use MainStage along with the Nord or another Keyboard, I would suggest looking into an external little mixer like the Yamaha MG06. I feed the audio from my Mac/MainStage headphone jack into my mixer.

As I wrote above: consider running the nord into MainStage through your audio interface.

That way, you can not only use MainStage to switch patches on the nord via MIDI, but also seamlessly integrate the nord into your setup by including the external inputs from the nord as channel strips in your patch, adjusting volume, or even processing or muting them per MainStage patch.
