Re: List of Nord Stage 2 known issues/bugs

I' ve installed os 1.26 update for Nord Stage 2.
I try to play sound on Mainstage2.
The Pedal don' t send the local off of any sound.
When the pedal is lifted, it will not transmit a CC64, value 0.
Now this would not be a problem if all other MIDi units did conform to the MIDI Specification that
says that anything below value 63 should be considered as sustain off.
But several soft synts and other units do require CC64, value 0 to turn their sustain off.

How can I transform, in Mainstage the value below 63 as sustain off?
Anyone Knows it?
Thanks
Luigi

I got the following prompt reply from US tech support staff regarding the lack of leakage adjustment:

"the "age" parameter is not implemented on the Stage 2 and at this time Nord is not contemplating adding it to that instrument."

Needless to say very disappointed considering this key feature (described on p 43 of owners manual) does not work as described.

Does anyone know a work around to active the Vintage 2 Tonewheel Mode?

That's odd... unless my memory is whacky, when I tried it, it worked exactly as described on p43 of the manual... the parameters are Clean, Vintage 1, and Vintage 2. The Electro 3 does have an additional option there, Vintage 3, which to me, sounded basically the same as Vintage 2 except that the leakage crosstalk is constant, instead of only audible when actually playing notes.

In general, though, I am surprised that the organ section of the Stage 2 has so many fewer adjustable parameters than the organ section of the E3. I thought that, with the addition of sample library compatibility, they had finally "fixed" the line so that "upgrading" from an E3 to a Stage no longer meant a step backward in any way, but the E3 lets you customize the organ sound to a greater extent (i.e. more adjustable parameters for rotary speaker behavior and percussion).

My Stage 2 display does show the three "age" options you mention. However they all sound the same. I also own an E3 so have solid reference what I should be hearing between Clean, Vintage 1, etc.... It is missing from stage 2 at least on mine.

Regarding "Age" parameter, it works just fine. APOLOGY to NORD. Thanks to Pablo the issue was operator errot (me) not the instrument. Sorry to be a waste of anyone's time.

Hi everybody!

I´ve got the following problem. (I will try it in my German School English)
If i use my nordstage 2 with external equipment, i got trouble with the sustain pedal, the tones are still sounding when i depress the pedal. So i recorded it in Logic and findet out that the maximum value of controller Number 64 by pressing the pedal is 85 and if i depress it, it´s 22. (but it has be 0 and 127)I used the normal Nord Pedal but I also tried it with different pedals, checked the menus - always the same. I use OS 1.26. If I use another keyboard all works perfectly so it must be a bug of me or my nordstage 2.
Is there anybody wo can help me?!?

Thank You

Thomas

Hi Tomas. I don't know if you have already done this, but you have to select which type/brand of pedals you are using in the system menu.

Okay. Then I'm not sure how to help you. It seems very strange.

I just purchased the Stage 2 and am looking at the Ernie Ball 6168 pedal for swell and rotor control (has a side switch like Hammond). I talked to EB rep and he seemed to think it would work. Anyone have experience with this pedal?
