Hi,
I've never used the Kb Gate function with my triple pedal, I've just read again what it's supposed to do but cannot find any use, do you have any example when you used it and for what?
Thanks

*following*
Same here
edit: I've read the description of KB Gate again.
So for example you have a piano and string section (piano+synth) layered. And the KBGate is enable on piano.
When pressing the latch pedal you will only hear strings?

Re: Kb Gate function, any example?
@Berretje: Keybgate is only applicable to the Synth section. In the piano+strings layer case you may use the KeybGate to exclude (do not trigger) the strings; in most use cases KeybGate is used in combination with Latch, but not necessarily.
A use case example, still in the piano+string layer scenario: if you place a chord (where you want piano&strings together) then you want to solo with piano sound only then you will use KeybGate+Latch: pressing the Latch pedal just before starting the solo will activate the KeybGate, which will prevent the synth to play the notes you will play while it is pressed, while the Latch will keep the ones of the chord (that were played before).
Of course you can apply that also to a different scenario, for example two layered synths playing a brass program where synth A has standard sound and Synth B instead has "falls' which you can temporarily exclude via KbGate (or a Violin on top of a Strings section, or...)
There can be many other examples, but I hope the concept is now clear: when you activate the KeybGate on a Synth section it temporarily cuts-off the connection between the NS Keyboard (or MIDI Notes on/off) and the Synth while the latch (Sostenuto)pedal is pressed, with all the due consequences and creative use you can do of this feature,
Takes a while to practice and I don't really use the KeybGate in my playing, I just tried it sometimes while practicing, but I think that, if mastered, can be a very interesting technique.

Re: Kb Gate function, any example?
I used it only once I think.
If for example you have a layer for almost the whole of the song, except for the intro or a few short pieces in between where you only need one of the layered sounds, the KB gate function can be handy.
That way you don't have to enable and disable the second instrument by pressing a button every time. Could also be done with a morph quite easily though.

Re: Kb Gate function, any example?
Gotta say that I spent some time scratching my head when I first tried to understand this feature. I even wrote an email to my (then) guru at Clavia (now retired) relating my experience: when I press the pedal I don't hear the notes I'm playing, all the while thinking to myself that if I don't want to hear some notes, I can accomplish that more simply by not playing them. In typical guru fashion his response was short and sweet: yes, that how it works, leaving me to figure out the implications for myself. Since then I have fallen in love with that feature, use it alot, and very disappointed to not see it in the NS3.
Prime example: when playing bass it is often nice to layer in a picked guitar one or two octaves up mirroring the bassline. But I don't want to hear the guitar on every single note all the way through. KBGATE takes care of that simply and elegantly. Kind of like sitting at the mixing board in the studio strategically muting and unmuting channels on the fly, only it's done live with a tap of the foot. Other keyboard players come up to me at set break: "how did you do that?" It's a beautiful thing.
