I remember I could have an instrument section (organ/piano or synth) ON but not assigned to any zone on a split. This was done by pressing shift+KB Zone button for the instument until all of the green LEDs above it are off.

I've tried it now but I can't achieve it!!

Do I remember well how to do it? Or, is it not possible at all?

I think you need to assign the instrument sections to a midi channel first.

I use that feature a lot. When it's 'not assigned, it only reacts to incoming midi, in my case a light action second board on top of my Stage 2 88.
If I remember correctly, the feature only become available after you assign certain instruments to a specific incoming MIDI channel, for instance Organ A to MIDI Channel 6.
Not at my Stage right now, but I think it's explained in the manual.

Correct. Not enough to assign a MIDI Channel to the Slot or Global, there must be one assigned to the specific Section(s) that you want to be controlled via MIDI only.
