Goodbye Nord Stage 3

Postby jdahms » 09 Nov 2017, 07:36

So I've posted on this forum and emailed Nord support twice about their decision to remove Panel mode from Dual Kb. I waited a week. Complete lack of response. Crickets. Time to vote with my money. Took my Stage 3 back to the store for a refund today.

The lack of a sample editor also contributed to my decision. That and the Hammond doesn't sound as good as the NS2. What the heck Nord?

Okay, don't you think it's a bit exaggerate? I know you posted a lot on this forum to explain your needs about this but if you returned your Stage 3, I'm assuming there were not a lot of new functions that you needed in the Stage 3 that were not available in the Stage 2 right? You still have the Stage 2?

Get back in a couple of months when Clavia has sorted the issues, I bought my stage 2 after about a year on the market and it developed over time to an amazing instrument. That sets high expectations on a followup, basically I was expecting the stage 3 to be a stage 2 on steroids, which it is in many aspects. Sadly there were many strange things going on on the midi side with stage 3 and we are still waiting for the editor to be able to upload samples, which is also stopping me from fully utilising this instrument. Having said that, stage 3 sounds better than stage 2, more open sound, and as a combination of VA, rhodes, piano and organ it does a great job on stage. I whish the sample engine was much better, but I complement with a Montage which also have crippled midifunctionality........until the sample editor appears I use my stage 2 if that feature is needed. Else I’m really happy to gig my stage 3.

Or Nord takes another 6 months to release the sample editor and has a structural issue that can't be resolved with just software and needs to physically rework system boards requiring a full recall.

The issue here is nobody knows, because the people that know (Nord) are not saying anything.

Nord rather than being transparent about what is going on, hasn't issued any information one way or the other. Its a common PR problem with many companies that believe its better to remain silent. This of coarse leaves everyone open to speculate and general make things worse than they are.

Nord would be much better served by just letting everybody know what is going on. You know what kills a Kickstarter campaign faster than anything... not keeping your supporters regularly updated on the status of the project.

Since Nord has seen fit to release a product that is effectively beta, there is a duty to be open about how they are going to bring this product up to advertised specification. Short of that they are selling a product that is not fit for purpose.

Nord is in complete control of wether this product launch leaves a black mark on their reputation or demonstrates they are a company with vision, heart and integrity.

Let's see... You bought the Nord knowing there was no sample editor released yet. I think that one is on you.

As for the DualKB, I am surprised by their decision and was initially upset, but other than that one feature (which still works, just differently), the NS3 has seen a lot of improvement since its release.

I can't speak to the comparison of the Hammonds since I haven't played the Stage 2, but to my ear, it sounds pretty freakin' awesome on the 3.

I agree that it would be nice to have more communication. However, you can hardly call this a "beta". Everything works. Very few bugs that affected most people. Other than the change on the DualKB feature, what is it that it couldn't do?

Fit for purpose? Let's see... Does it play music when I use it? Yep! That was my purpose. What was your purpose other than that?

I have to call a spade a spade here. I feel like you are upset about something else and taking it out on Nord. Or you are trolling. Or you work for a competing brand. The Stage 3 is a great board and you are picking nits.
