No, at the moment nobody can explain how to do this, because it’s not possible in the Sample Edito right now.

Switch on velocity tracking in the filter section on the Nord Stage 3 synth instead.

Are you saying nmsp3 samples can be loaded into the NE5?

No. I'd love to have that feature for the reasons I explained, and I hope Nord might do a software update to give that compatibility to the NE5, but I have no info saying that they will. I just used the NE5 in my example because it is a limitation I have personally run into on the NE5, which this feature would solve. (I don't have an NS3.) I think it's reasonable to assume that nmsp3 will eventually come to the Electro, but whether it comes to the 5 or doesn't happen until an Electro 6, your guess is as good as mine.

Got it, i breezed through your post a little too quick. I've added "reset the envelope knob to the center detent position" to my pre-gig checkist for the annoying reason you stated.

The good news is that the .nsmp3 format will be supported in the Electro 6. Unfortunately, my guess is that that means we'll never see .nsmp3 compatibility come to the E5.

BTW, the conversation I've seen has been about how the new sample format will include things like default filter and envelope settings, but has this been confirmed anywhere by Nord? Do we know for certain that this is, indeed, the purpose of the new format?

Assuming that's the case, it will actually be more useful on the Electro than on the Stage 3, because the Stage at least has "synth presets" that allow you to save samples with their synth parameters as their own entities (i.e. apart from Programs). The Electro doesn't have that, so there's no way to grab a sample on the fly with any of these parameters pre-specified, as you can on the Stage 3 (i.e. if you want to call up a sample-based sound to split or layer with your current piano or organ sound).

Then I could just pick the sound on the fly and it would be right, instead of having to always adjust the envelope knobs every time.

Thanks for the explanation. I haven't realized that.
