Hi guys,
I've ran into a problem with my new Stage 2. What I need is a piano/synth split on slot A and an organ on slot B, but I want to control slot B with an external keyboard. So, the organ should not sound when playing the Stage, only when playing the second keyboard.
I think there are two ways to do it:
1. Use Dual KB mode. But when I activate the Dual KB mode I can't set any splits. Should this be possible? Is it possible on the Stage EX/Classic? The manual says splits are shared between both slots, which is OK, but why not in Dual KB mode?
2. Activate both Slots A & B, without Dual KB mode, and then assign a seperate MIDI channel for the organ only. The manual says I can set separate MIDI channels for each instrument in the MIDI menu. But the settings are missing!! They're simply not there, which is definitely a software bug or at least a missing feature that is promised in the manual. Were seperate MIDI channels per instrument an option on the Stage EX/Classic?

Anyway, I now have a problem, because I see no way of creating this much-desired setup :~(

Hi,
sounds like a standard task so should be doable (I hope!)
1) ON the Stage EX, you CAN use splits in the Dual KB mode (just checked!) So definitively a OS bug that needs to be fixed!
2) strange that you don't see the options in the MIDI menu
but (3) a third way might be to assign not the INSTRUMENTS to different Midi channels but the Panels as a whole, e.g., PANEL A -> CH1, PANEL B -> CH2 (if these options are available for you!), and then selecting both panels jointly but on the Organ Panel activate the Instrument but ALL Split LEDs off so that it only reacts to MIDI Signals.

But it seems a OS fix is indeed needed.
Anyway, enjoy your new toy! And the keybed, how much is it a NP rather than the NSEX/Classic??

I contacted Clavia and they state it is indeed a known bug. Good to hear the split function should work in Dual KB mode. I just hope they'll fix this quickly!

I'll try your suggestion, since I do have the MIDI channel per slot settings (the 'panels' are named 'slots' on the NS2 :) ). I'm not sure I can activate the instruments if the MIDI channel for the specific instrument is not set.

I like the keybed, as I stated in the NS2 thread, better than my Yamaha S90. But I have never played any of the other Nord keyboards so I can't compare, sorry.
